How To Place Your First Ever Accumulator

There can be fewer more exciting propositions in the world of sports betting then placing an accumulator.

Feeling the anticipation in the build-up, the excitement during and the thrill or despair after, it takes sports betting to a whole new level of emotion and intrigue.

Placing an accumulator is easy enough to do too; but mastering the art is something else altogether! But it’s a fun to practice, and it can – with the right mixture of luck and skill – become a very profitable hobby.

So feel free to follow our step-by-step guide to placing your first ever accumulator.

Step 1 – Logging In

For our guide we will be using the Betvictor website as an example, if you want to follow along exactly then you can click here to sign up now and bet £10 to get £40 in bonuses.

Betvictor Log In

First things first, you need to log in. This assumes that you have already set-up an account. If you haven’t, you will need to do so by clicking the green ‘create account’ button; don’t worry, it only takes a few moments to do.

Step 2 – Navigate To Your Chosen Sport

Top Sports at BetvictorRemember, you can place your accumulator on pretty much any sport under the sun. Your chosen bookmaker will have everything you can think of listed on their website, and so make sure you place your first ever acca on a sport you are knowledgeable about and feel comfortable spending your own hard-earned cash on.

For the purposes of this example, we are going to be betting on the football.

Step 3 – Select Your League

Once you have clicked on the football tab, you will be taken to the footy homepage.

Now, this is quite a busy screen, but don’t panic: we’ve got your back.

All you need to worry about here is finding the right league that you want to bet on. As we’re in the UK, our default setting is the English leagues, but you can find all of the major divisions – the Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 – just by scrolling down the page a little further. There are other leagues from all over the globe listed too.

For the purposes of this example, we shall be betting on the English Premier League.

Step 4 – Select Your Type of Bet

There is a wide range of betting options available to you on the football. You can bet on outright winners, both teams to score, match result and both teams to score, outright – draw no bet, double chance or half time/full time….and loads more.

To keep things nice and simple, we’re going to stick with the ‘match betting’ tab that is automatically highlighted when you click ‘English Premier League’. All you need to do here is pick three winners (as for our treble), or as many as you decide to place in your accumulator. Simple eh?

Remember:

  • Doubles & Trebles – Less Risk, Lower Returns
  • Four-Fold or More – More Risk, Greater Returns

Step 5 – Pick Your Selections

Now comes the fun part: picking the teams you want to make up your first accumulator. You’ll now be presented with a list of the fixtures taking place.

Now is your opportunity to show your hand as a top tipster. So consider the form of the teams, their league positions, which team is playing at home and which is away (teams tend to perform better at home), results in their previous meetings, players missing through injury and suspension….and so on.

Quick tip: if you just wanted to place your first ever accumulator really fast just to test the water, pick three home teams with low odds.

We’re going to pick Man City (because they are so strong at home), Stoke City (who are strong at home and face a struggling Sunderland) and Crystal Palace (because their opponents Hull City struggle when playing away from home).

And so we click on our selections like this:

Fixtures

If your using the app it will look slightly different but the same concepts apply.

Remember, that the ‘1’ column denotes the home team, ‘2’ is the draw, and ‘3’ is the away selection.

Step 6 – Placing Your Bet

Example BetslipOnce you have clicked on your selections, they will be added to your bet slip as per the image on the right.

Just underneath your selections you will see a number of options listed under the ‘multiples’ tab: Doubles, Treble, Trixie and Patent. We’re placing a treble here, so ignore the other options for the time being.

Now you need to decide how much you want to stake, and type this in the box next to ‘treble’.

If you are happy with your selections, and the proposed return, scroll down the page a bit further and click on ‘Place Bets Now’.

Now it’s time to hope, bet and pray that your accumulator comes in!
