Champions League Acca: 24th & 25th November

The Champions League is back this week as we embark on the second set of three games in the group stage, which will all be played over the coming weeks. It is an incredibly busy time for the players in what has been a particularly arduous schedule and it is not surprising to see so many players going down with injury.

As such, we could well see some very different teams lining up for these second leg games and there is the potential for some very surprising results. However, I do also have to say that this is also one of the more one-sided sets of fixtures I’ve seen in the Champions League and all things being equal, there’s not a great deal of value when backing the clear pick in many games.

So what I have done is moved away from our Premier League focus for this selection in the main and looked at the games which offer the better odds for my fancied selections, this includes the big game at the San Siro between Inter Milan and Real Madrid and also the match in Paris between PSG and Red Bull Leipzig.

With Man City facing Olympiakos, Liverpool at home to Atalanta and Man Utd at home to Istanbul Basaksehir, only Chelsea away to Rennes offers some kind of value for me, hence I have decided to focus on some of the other games to try and put together a nice value acca bet for you.

Remember to check back Thursday morning too for our Europa League acca tips. For now though, here are my tips for the Champions League games taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Bet Analysis: Tuesday 24th November

Rennes v Chelsea – Away Win

Rennes are 5th in the French League but they have collected just one point in their group and in truth, I find it hard to see how they will get any to add to that total here. Chelsea are in great form at the moment. Frank Lampard’s men are scoring goals, keeping clean sheets and are looking a much stronger side than they did earlier on in the season. Ziyech’s return from injury has been the catalyst for this big improvement and I think he can be the inspiration here too. Chelsea won the first game between these two teams 3-0 a couple of weeks ago, and I would not be too surprised if they landed a similar win here too.

Paris St Ger v Red Bull Leipzig – Home Win

Red Bull came from a goal down at home to beat Paris St Germain in the game between these two teams a few weeks ago. PSG will at least have Mbappe back for this game after he missed the last one through injury but Neymar is still absent. Red Bull were held at the weekend away to Frankfurt while PSG threw away a 2-0 lead on the road at Monaco to lose 3-2, although they are still clear at the top of the table, although Marseille can catch them with their games in hand. This will be the third meeting between the teams in the space of a few months and they have one win apiece from those games but with home advantage, I would expect PSG to earn themselves another win here in what is proving to be a very tough to call group.

Bet Analysis: Wednesday 25th November

Inter Milan v Real Madrid – Home Win

Real Madrid claimed a 3-2 win in this game a few weeks ago, which kept up the excellent record that home teams have in this particular fixture and I think that trend is likely to be upheld once again here in the return leg of this game. Inter’s form of late has not been great with four draws in their last six games ahead of their game on Sunday with Torino. Real though are also not in great form, drawing their last La Liga game away to Villarreal and I feel on the road, especially against top European sides, they do look susceptible. Inter need a win to get back on track in this group and I think they will achieve that here.

Marseille v FC Porto – Draw

Marseille have started poorly in Group C, losing all of their three games so far but their record in the French League suggests they are a much better side than that suggests. FC Porto lie 2nd to Man City in the group and they won the reverse fixture between these sides 3-0 a couple of weeks ago. The Stade Velodrome is a very hard place to go and get a result though and while I can’t quite see FC Porto losing the game, I do think Marseille will get off the mark here. As such, I am backing the French side to earn a share of the spoils to take their first point in the group stage.
