Champions League Acca – Tue 13th & Wed 14th April

We were very close to landing ourselves another accumulator win last week in the Champions League, only Bayern Munich out of the four selections let us down with the other three results coming in pretty much as I called them.

So a 75% success rate was good, but I would like to land another accumulator win to add to the one a couple of weeks back, especially when I am landing so many correct results at the present moment in time.

This set of Champions League games gives me a chance to do that as it is the second leg of the games played last week. Of course, the result from the first leg makes things much clearer for teams in terms of they know what they need to do and that can make for generally better games than you tend to get in first leg ties.

We have the games played on Wednesday last week taking place on Tuesday, while the games played on Tuesday last week are this week’s Wednesday games and of course, at the end of the action on Wednesday night, we will know which four teams will contest this year’s semifinals.

Chelsea and Paris St Germain are well set to be two of those four teams after away leg wins in the opening tie of the round. Manchester City and Real Madrid have leads to defend in their second legs away to Dortmund and Liverpool respectively in what could be two cracking games.

Let’s now give you our tips for this set of games in the Champions League.

Bet Analysis: Tuesday 13th April

Chelsea (2) v (0) FC Porto – Home Win

Chelsea were superb in the first leg in Portugal and I think this gives them a massive advantage in the home leg, FC Porto tend to reach the last 16 or last 8 on occasion but that is as far as they go and I can see that being the case here. Chelsea warmed up for this game with a very good win away to Crystal Palace at the weekend and I think that will give them a real boost for this game. They don’t need to push it, so don’t expect a big win for the home side, but I would expect Chelsea to land another win here to progress into the semis comfortably.

Paris St Germain (3) v (2) Bayern Munich – Draw

The first leg between these two teams was a fantastic game of football that really could have been any scoreline. Bayern had the majority of the best chances but PSG were so clinical with the chances that they created that they put Bayern to the sword. I can see a similar type of game here in Paris on Tuesday night with the Germans perhaps needing to keep pushing. Oddly, I don’t fancy PSG’s chances here as much as I did in Germany and as such, I think Bayern will get something from this game. However my gut feeling is that this could be a 1-1 or 2-2 draw and that won’t be enough for the German side to progress through.

Bet Analysis: Wednesday 14th April

Borussia Dortmund (1) v (2) Manchester City – Away Win

Dortmund so nearly hung on to claim a draw in the first leg in Manchester but Phil Foden’s injury time winner have Manchester City a slender lead to take to Dortmund for the second leg. City though played a much weakened team against Leeds at the weekend and suffered a rare home loss. Dortmund were 3-2 winners at Stuttgart and they will fancy their chances against City here. However, I feel City may benefit from Dortmund being a bit more attack minded here and I am backing Pep’s team to put their quarterfinal hoodoo behind them here and land a narrow win, probably by a 2-1 scoreline, to move into the semifinals.

Liverpool (1) v (3) Real Madrid – Away Win

Liverpool’s last two Champions League campaigns have had pivotal games against Spanish opponents. In 2019, they beat Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield after losing the first leg 3-0 in Spain, but last year they were eliminated by Atletico Madrid, losing 3-2 at Anfield after extra time after losing 1-0 in Madrid. I fear for Liverpool fans it could be more of the latter rather than the former when Real come to Anfield on Wednesday. The Spaniards beat Barcelona 2-1 at the weekend in El Clasico to give them a big boost heading into this game. Liverpool ended their run of eight games without a win at Anfield but they are not convincing at home and needing to chase the game, I think Real will pick them off on the counter attack to land the win.
