EPL And Carabao Cup Final Tips – 26th 27th February
We’re back this week with a somewhat unusual weekend of tips this time around as we have a smaller than usual selection of Premier League games to pick from, but we do have the Carabao Cup Final to enjoy on Sunday, which gives this set of tips a bit of added spice.
The last few sets of tips haven’t gone as hoped and I want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible, so I may be opting for some shorter priced options this week, but hopefully together, the bets will still offer us a decent return.
After all a small win earns you more than a big money near miss!
We’ve got some interesting games coming up this weekend with a crucial relegation battle between Brentford and Newcastle United, while another team embroiled in the battle at the bottom, Everton face a very tricky game at home to Manchester City.
I’m also very interested to see how Tottenham perform away to Leeds United given their manager’s strange outburst in the week where he claimed he may not be good enough to manage Tottenham. I’m getting the feeling that certain promises to Conte may not have been kept, but it is going to be interesting to see how they do against a Leeds side that has shipped ten goals in its last two games.
And then of course, we have the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday, which sees Chelsea facing Liverpool in a repeat of the 2005 final which Chelsea won after extra time. The two teams have battled out two draws in the Premier League this season and both have won their last five games in all competitions, so this should be an intriguing contest.]
Leeds United are still very much embroiled in a relegation battle and after shipping ten goals in their last two games against Manchester United and Liverpool, they will be hoping that they get a reaction here against a Spurs side that have so exasperated their manager over the last few games that he said he didn’t feel good enough in midweek. That’s a very strange reaction from Conte and I think there is more going on at Spurs than meets the eye. After winning at City, you would have expected a great showing in midweek but it never happened. I do think Spurs are good enough to get the win here however, despite what their manager thinks.
Brentford v Newcastle United – Away Win
I’ve been very impressed with how Newcastle United have turned things around of late and their run of six league games unbeaten has propelled them out of the relegation zone. However, teams below them winning has meant that Newcastle still need to keep picking up points and they have a great chance here against a Brentford side that have picked up just one out of the last 18 points available. The Bees are in free fall at the moment and they badly need inspiration to dig them out of this run of poor form. However, with Newcastle flying at the moment, I can’t see them getting it here and I am going for a narrow Newcastle win.
Manchester United v Watford – Home Win
Manchester United didn’t play well in the Champions League in midweek, but Elanga’s late goal salvaged a draw from the away leg in Madrid and will give United confidence going into the game against a Watford side who beat United 4-1 back in November. That was arguably United’s poorest performance of the season so far and I do feel that the Red Devils are going to be very keen to put that right on Saturday. Watford have Roy Hodgson as manager now, but I think they are going to need more than that to avoid a defeat here.
Carabao Cup Final: Sunday 27th February
Chelsea v Liverpool – Draw
These teams have met in the League Cup Final before in 2005, Chelsea winning 3-2 after extra time in a game best remembered for Steven Gerrard’s own goal. This season, both games between the two have finished level, 1-1 at Anfield and 2-2 at Stamford Bridge most recently, and with both teams having won all of their last five games in all competitions coming into this, plus being 2nd and 3rd in the table, it does look like an even contest. Given all that I think that the odds are in favour of a draw here with extra time and perhaps even penalties needed to decide the winner.
