EPL And FA Cup Semi Final Acca – Sat 17th & Sun 18th April

Well, there were some rather unusual results across Europe last weekend and into this week. I don’t think many people had three away wins and a draw down for the four Champions League quarterfinal second leg ties (unfortunately, I know I didn’t).

I was close last weekend though, had Leicester managed to grab an equaliser, then I’d have been in for a big win! So close once again!

This leads us into this coming weekend, which is a rather unusual one as we have a mix of Premier League action alongside the two FA Cup Semi Final ties which are taking place at Wembley on Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend.

In the first of those ties, two Champions League semi finalists, Chelsea and Manchester City lock horns in what should be a very intriguing tie and then on Sunday, Leicester City will take on Southampton, a team they beat 9-0 last season, in the second semifinal.

Alongside those games we have a smattering of four Premier League games across Saturday and Sunday in what is the start of over a week of games taking place every night of the week. Top games here include West Ham making a trip north to face Newcastle United and Wolves needing a home win over bottom club Sheffield United.

With such a small selection of games, and with some of the odds on offer not being the greatest, we have gone from a massive acca bet selection last week, down to a rather more modest one this week. However, I always feel these are the bets that do have the best chance of winning (as was proven just a couple of weeks ago).

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the four games I have put together for this week’s accumulator bet across both Premier League and FA Cup competitions.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 17th April

Newcastle United v West Ham – Away Win

Newcastle have lost just one of their last five games but they have drawn three of those games which has kept them flirting with the bottom three. However the Allan Saint-Maximin-inspired win over Burnley has really boosted Newcastle’s chances of staying up, especially with Fulham starting to hit a wall.  That win leaves Fulham six points clear of the drop zone, with a game in hand over Fulham in 18th and they are also now just one point behind Brighton and Burnley above them.  However they face a West Ham side in great form and who are in the Champions League places in the Premier League. David Moyes men are oozing confidence at the moment and I think they are the team to back here.

Chelsea v Manchester City – Manchester City Win

With both of these teams making it through to the Champions League semifinals this past week, both will be in good spirits ahead of this game. City are going for a quadruple success and next week they face Spurs in the Carabao Cup Final. A win here would give them a second domestic final appearance this season and I can see them getting precisely that here against a Chelsea side that were below par against FC Porto in midweek, while City came back from a 1-0 deficit to beat Dortmund 2-1 in Germany. That win will set City up nicely for another win here.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 18th April

Arsenal v Fulham – Home Win

What kind of Arsenal performance can we expect in this London derby with Fulham? The Gunners go from the sublime to the ridiculous with their performances at the moment and that inconsistency must drive their fans and the manager crazy. They face a Fulham side badly in need of points after Newcastle’s win last week but I don’t think Scott Parker’s team will get that here as I think Arsenal are long overdue a good performance at home and three points and I can see them getting that here.

Leicester City v Southampton – Leicester Win

The second FA Cup Semifinal takes place on Sunday evening with both teams attempting to reach their fifth FA Cup Final. Leicester have lost all four previous finals they have contested, Southampton have won one (in 1976) and lost the other three, the most recent in 2003. However, while their FA Cup form has been good this season, in the league Southampton’s form is woeful and it is not hard to remember that they lost 9-0 to today’s opponents last season. Leicester have had issues with staff and discipline but I think they are the team to back here to land a place in the final.
