FA Cup 3rd Round Acca – 8th to 10th January 2021

If you were on my mailing list last week, you’d have been picking up £229.20 in profit from the bookmakers from my email tip that I send every week to subscribers. Additionally, I only just missed out on this set of tips landing me another acca as Chelsea couldn’t get the draw I predicted for them against Manchester City last weekend.

Everything else came in as I expected which goes to show that opting for a more conservative strategy with my selections has improved results already, so I am obviously going to continue that here with this set of tips.

However, this week we are looking at the games taking place in the FA Cup Third Round. 64 teams remain in the tournament at the stage when all the top Premier League and Championship teams enter the frey. There are some cracking games to enjoy including Aston Villa v Liverpool on Friday night, Wolves v Crystal Palace at the same time, Arsenal v Newcastle on Saturday while Leeds face Crawley and Tottenham head to Marine on Sunday.

There are also plenty of good options from teams outside of the Premier League and I may well include some of those fixtures in my selections this week if I feel the value for money that they offer is better than what I can find on some of the more obvious Premier League selections.

Of course, FA Cup Third Round weekend means the chance of a few giant killing games, and while I won’t be hoping for any of those with my tips, there are more than a few difficult games ahead for some of the top Premier League sides, none moreso than for Liverpool who have not won in three and travel to Aston Villa who have beaten the Champions 5-0 and 7-2 in their last two contests at Villa Park.

Let’s now take a look at the selections for this week’s games and it is worth remembering that this season there are now FA Cup replays, with all games being played to a conclusion on the day with extra time and penalties used if required to decide the winner. Please note too, we have published these 24-hours earlier than usual due to two games in the list taking place Friday night.

Bet Analysis: Friday 8th January

Aston Villa v Liverpool – Home Win

On their last two visits to this ground, Liverpool have lost both games, conceded 12 goals and scored just two. Admittedly, the first of those saw a Liverpool Youth/Reserve team lose 5-0 in an FA Cup tie, but earlier this season a very much full-strength Liverpool team were smashed 7-2, in a game in which they could have easily conceded ten goals. Add to this the fact that at the moment, Liverpool are playing terribly and are without a win in three, the fact Jurgen Klopp will likely rest players for this game and the fact Villa are in great form and seem to have the beating of the Champions, I cannot see anything other than a win for the Villains here to move them into the fourth round.

Wolves v Crystal Palace – Home Win

Wolves won’t be happy at letting a 3-1 lead slip away at Brighton last weekend but a 3-3 draw is not a defeat and means Wolves, though without a win in four, have lost just two of their last five. Palace have the self-same record as Wolves in those games but on the road I think they are going to find things a little tricky. After struggling following Raul Jiminez’ injury, Wolves are finding a new way to play that is effective and I think that will be the key to them earning a narrow victory to progress into the next round.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 9th January

Stoke City v Leicester City – Away Win

Michael O’Neill took over at Stoke City with the club in danger of relegation to League One. Now they sit on the fringes of the playoff and promotion chase in the Championship and he has done a great job since taking over at the Potteries side. However, he faces a big test here against a Leicester City side whose best results this season have come away from home and who will likely be eyeing this competition as one that they could win. Brendan Rodgers will rotate in some fresh faces here I am sure, but I still feel the Foxes will be good enough to win the game, though I do feel it will be by a 1-0 scoreline.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 10th January

Crawley Town v Leeds United – Away Win

I watched Crawley Town destroy Tranmere Rovers 5-0 at home a few weeks back and if they play like that, Leeds will have a game on their hands here. However, Crawley’s form this season has been somewhat erratic. We know what we will get with Leeds here and I don’t think Bielsa will be resting 11 starters for this game. That’s not his style. Leeds style should be more than enough for them to pick up the win here and move into the fourth round where nobody will want to draw them, home or away.
