FA Cup Final & EPL Acca – 14th & 15th May

Unfortunately, Everton’s inability to claim a win at Watford meant that out midweek accumulator is down, which is a pity as the other two results I’d backed came in as planned and all I would have needed was for tonight’s game between Spurs and Arsenal to go to plan and we’d have had another winner.

Still, I can’t complain after a decent season and i want to round things off nicely with a win, either with this set of tips this week, or the one coming up on the final weekend of the Premier League season. Perhaps both, if I can be greedy!

This weekend is an unusual mix of games. On Saturday we have the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Liverpool at Wembley, a repeat of the Carabao Cup Final from back in February when Liverpool won 11-10 on penalties after a goalless 90 minutes and extra time.

Then on Sunday the focus turns to the Premier League and what could be an absolutely pivotal weekend for teams involved in battles at the top and bottom of the table.

We have Leeds, Burnley and Everton battling it out to avoid the drop, with Leeds currently occupying the last relegation spot in the table but if they can win a game, they would put huge pressure on the two teams above them.

Similarly, if Everton or Burnley can win, then they can increase their prospects of staying up massively, or even confirm it if a win is paired with a Leeds defeat.

Then at the top of the table, if Manchester City can land a win at West Ham then that would need Liverpool needing to score a huge number of goals and win both their remaining games, while hoping Aston Villa can beat City at home, which is unlikely and therefore would likely confirm the title for City.

It’s a huge weekend and here’s my tips for four games from it.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 14th May

Chelsea v Liverpool – Draw

A re-run of the Carabao Cup Final and considering that game finished as a draw at 90 minutes, as did the two Premier League games between the two teams, it won’t surprise you that this is the result I have gone for here. Admittedly, in terms of recent form, Liverpool have been much the better of the two teams, but Chelsea’s main focus has been on winning this trophy and I think that will make this game a coin toss between the two. The one thing I will state here is that I think Luis Diaz has given Liverpool an added dimension that they lacked when the two teams met earlier on this season and I think in extra time, that may prove to be decisive, but at the end of 90 minutes, I would be very surprised if this is not a draw with extra time needed.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 15th May

Aston Villa v Crystal Palace – Home Win

Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are right next to each other in the league table with just one point between them and yet it feels like Palace have had a good season, while Villa have probably not quite hit the heights expected of them. Steven Gerrard’s team lost in the week to Liverpool which ended a decent run of form and they’ll want to get back on that run here. The home side don’t draw many games, which is why I have not gone for the draw here. Only Arsenal (3) have drawn fewer than Villa’s four this season while Palace are the draw masters with 14, but I am going for the home side to just do enough to clinch a win here.

Leeds United v Brighton – Away Win

It is now or never for Leeds United if they want to stay in the Premier League. They cannot afford any more slip ups but without the suspended Luke Ayling and Daniel James for the rest of the season, plus the injuries they have, it is hard to see them picking up the two wins that they could well need to stand any chance of staying up. They are also playing a Brighton team who have lost just twice to Leeds in the last 16 games between the two. The way Brighton have played this season has been a joy to watch at times and if they can replicate the form they showed last week against Manchester United, they should land the win here.

Watford v Leicester City – Away Win

The Hornets are returning back to the Championship and Leicester City moved up to 10th in the table on the back of their 3-0 win in midweek. Brendan Rodgers will want to keep that run of form going here away to a Watford side whose form has been extremely poor of late. It does feel like the Hornets have given up the ghost over the last few weeks and I think Roy Hodgson deserved a bit better from them. As such, I think a Leicester away win is on the cards here.
