Final Premier League Acca Tip Of The Season – 28th May

No luck last week, but still, after landing that £172+ plus win in the midweek beforehand, I was not unduly upset with a set of picks that saw the teams I’d selected to win just never get going (Manchester City apart).

So now we are on to our final set of picks for the season and what a season it has been. Manchester City are Champions, Arsenal, Newcastle United and (likely) Manchester United will join the Citizens in the Champions League next season.

City are now going for a treble achieved only by their rivals Manchester United, who can stop them by beating them in the FA Cup Final next weekend, and then the Champions League with Inter awaiting them in the final in Istanbul on June 10th.

Liverpool and Brighton will be playing Europa League football next season, while there is a battle on between Villa, Spurs and Brentford for a spot in the Europa Conference League next season.

At the bottom of the table, Nottingham Forest are now safe after beating Arsenal last weekend which means it will be two from Everton, Leicester and Leeds that join Southampton in the Championship next season.

So it will be the games at the foot of the table that attract most of the drama on Sunday and we’ve gone with a couple of those in this final set of tips.

All that remains for me to say is that I hope you have a very good summer and keep your eyes peeled for the return of action in August when we begin a new Premier League season all over again!

Here’s my tips for Matchday 38!

Premier League Bet Analysis: Sunday 28th May

Aston Villa v Brighton – Home Win

Aston Villa could round off the season with a place in the Europa Conference League if they can win this game, or if Tottenham and Brentford fail to beat their opponents and Villa draw. However due to goal difference, if Villa lose to Brighton and Spurs pick up a point, or Brentford win, or both, then Villa would miss out. They have a tough task on their hands against a Brighton side that were back to their very best against Manchester City in midweek, earning the point to give them Europa League football next season. However, will Brighton now be able to relax now they have qualified for Europe? Villa away is one of the tougher away games in the Premier League and it is going to be interesting to see how this one goes, but I am just about favouring the home side landing a one-goal victory.

Everton v Bournemouth – Draw

The home side know that a win keeps them up but a draw or a defeat could see them go down depending on the results in the Leicester City and Leeds games. Everton have a better goal difference than Leeds but if they draw and Leeds win by enough, the Elland Road side could overtake them. Leicester have a much better goal difference than Everton so if the Foxes win and Everton draw, the Toffees would go down. Sean Dyche’s team will be desperate to avoid the drop with a new stadium on the horizon and the club up for sale and Goodison Park will be at fever pitch for this one. Bournemouth have been tricky opponents and they are well capable of capitalising on that nervousness here. Therefore I am backing the Cherries to net a late equaliser to put Everton’s fans on edge.

Leicester City v West Ham United- Home Win

I must admit I was baffled by Dean Smith’s tactics against Newcastle in the week. Sure they got a point, which moved them above Leeds on goal difference, but a win would have taken them out of the drop zone and left things in their own hands. To settle for the draw as they did was really poor and now they need Bournemouth to do them a big favour at Goodison. I do feel Leicester deserve to go down given how poor they have been this season, especially in recent weeks but with West Ham focused on their Europa Conference League Final in 11 days or so, I think the Foxes could scrape the win here which could throw the cat amongst the pigeons in the relegation battle.

Chelsea v Newcastle United – Draw

Chelsea will be hoping to get this season over with quickly and then forget about it just as quick as it has been a miserable year for the Londoners. Thomas Tuchel’s sacking, in hindsight, looks a really poor decision as does the rash of spending in the winter transfer window which has severely impacted the squad. There’s a lot of work for Mauricio Pochettino to do with a lot of players likely to leave this summer. They face a Newcastle side who enjoyed their best season in years in the top flight and who richly deserved their Champions League place and who I feel will be ready to end the season with a good performance here that will earn them a draw.
