Matchday 6 Premier League Acca – 25th & 26th September

I seem to be stuck in a bit of a rut with these tips at the moment, seemingly hitting half of the games bang on the money, but seeing the others not quite bear fruit, sometimes in somewhat unfortunate circumstances.

But hey ho, that’s how it goes and at least I have already landed one winner early on in the season, which means I will be in profit for a good while yet but I am looking to add to that with this week’s set of tips.

We have a full set of games from Saturday through to Monday, with Crystal Palace and high-flying Brighton being the Monday evening game. The other 18 Premier League teams are in action across Saturday and Sunday and there are some cracking fixtures to enjoy.

We start off with an absolute corker on Saturday lunchtime as Chelsea and Manchester City clash in a repeat of last season’s FA Cup Semi Final and European Champions League Final, both of which were won by Chelsea. With Chelsea top of the table with Liverpool, with identical records, they will want to cement their status with a big win here.

However, City know a defeat could leave them six points behind the top sides in the Premier League, with a difficult game to come in a couple of weeks away to Liverpool too.

Then on Sunday, we have a cracking North London derby to look forward too as Arsenal seek to continue their improved form of late against a Tottenham side that have now gone three games without a win, not including their midweek League Cup game of course.

Don’t be surprised to see both those games feature in my tips for this week as I’ve outlined below!

Bet Analysis: Saturday 25th September

Chelsea v Manchester City – Home Win

What a game this promises to be. A repeat of the Champions League Final last season, which Chelsea won 1-0 and the Londoners seem to have got the better of City in most of the recent meetings between the two. In fact, Chelsea have won four of the last five between the teams including three wins in the space of little over a month at the end of last season. Last season, City won this fixture 3-1, but I think this is a very different Chelsea team now, while City have shown some fragilities defensively and have also looked a little lightweight in front of goal, especially away from home. All things seem to point to one result here and that is another win for Chelsea in what could be a crucial weekend for both teams.

Everton v Norwich City – Home Win

Everton were well beaten last week by Aston Villa away from home in what was a salutary lesson for Rafa Benitez’s team. However, a home game against a side bottom of the table and who have conceded almost three goals per game, scoring just twice in five themselves, should see the Toffee’s recover well. Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend look to have been inspired signings, but the sooner the Toffees get Dominic Calvert-Lewin back in the team the better. Even without the England striker, this should be a game that the home side win very comfortably.

Watford v Newcastle United – Home Win

I have to admit to being quietly impressed with how Watford have started the season. Wins over Norwich and Aston Villa moved them up into mid-table and they face a Newcastle side that are yet to win this season and who have only picked up two points in their five games. Steve Bruce is under pressure from Newcastle fans unhappy with the situation and they do seem over-reliant on Allan Saint-Maximin being their sole creative and goalscoring force. Watford seem to be a better balanced side and as such, I am backing them for a win in this one.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 26th September

Arsenal v Tottenham – Draw

A couple of weeks ago, Tottenham were top of the table, Arsenal were bottom. Now the Gunners lie just three points behind their rivals and a win here could well take them above them in the table. Mikel Arteta’s men have hardly set the world alight with wins over Norwich and Burnley, but back to back wins will have given their confidence a massive boost ahead of this game. Spurs will be somewhat shell shocked after two successive 3-0 defeats in the league to Palace and Chelsea and they will know another such result at the hands of their most fierce rivals will not be tolerated. I think this will be a cagey game, rather than an action-packed one and as such, I think a draw is the most likely outcome.
