Midweek Bundesliga Acca: Tue 26th & Wed 27th May

There’s not a great deal of time for teams to get their heads together after the weekend’s fixtures in the Bundesliga this week, as across Tuesday and Wednesday nights all 18 teams in the league will be in action once again in another round of matches, and of course we are going to bring you our top acca tip for these games too.

It is arguably the most important round of all the remaining game weeks in the Bundesliga season as we not only have two more top six sides clash as Wolfsburg take a trip to Bayer Leverkusen, but we also have the two best teams in the division locking horns as Bayern Munich make the trip north to take on Borussia Dortmund in what could be a huge match in terms of the destination of the title.

If the focus on Tuesday is more on the teams at the top of the table, Wednesday night’s games tend to be focused more on those battling away at the bottom with crucial games for the likes of Mainz, Augsburg, Paderborn, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Union Berlin to take place.

I’m quite pleased with how the tips have gone on the return to action, especially given there are a lot more variables to consider with the lack of crowd and the fact that teams have been out of action for so long prior to these games. Hopefully, as more games are played, we can get even more accurate with the tips.

Here’s my tip for a tidy midweek acca on the matches in the Bundesliga.

Bet Analysis: Tuesday 26th May

B.Dortmund v Bayern Munich – Home Win

The two giants of the Bundesliga for many years lock horns at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday with Dortmund knowing nothing less than a win will likely be good enough for them if they are to have any chance of wrestling the title from Bayern’s vice-like grip. Four points behind the leaders, Dortmund were thrashed, for the third season in a row, in Munich in the autumn, but they have beaten Bayern in both their last two home league games. I think Haaland is the key man here as his arrival has given Dortmund a different dimension and Bayern did look susceptible defensively at the weekend against a much poorer Frankfurt. I can see both sides scoring, but I also feel Dortmund’s attack will just do enough to give them the win.

Bayer Leverkusen v Wolfsburg – Home Win

Leverkusen were superb away to Borussia Moenchengladbach at the weekend and that superb 3-1 win saw them move third in the table, albeit potentially for just 24-hours until Red Bull Leipzig play. Even so, Leverkusen are playing some superb football at the moment and I make them strong favourites to get the job done against a Wolfsburg side who may be sixth but who are now well off the pace being shown by the top five. There’s no doubt Wolfsburg are improving, and doing so quickly, but Leverkusen are playing at another level to the visitors at the moment and in Kai Havertz, they have the man who is most likely to be the most in demand youngster in German football, along with Jadon Sancho, this summer. Back Havertz and co to lead his team to another solid win here.

W.Bremen v Borussia Moench. – Away Win

This looked an away banker just a week or so ago, but last weekend Bremen ended their horrific run of results with a superb 1-0 win at Freiburg, who have a very good home record, while Borussia Moenchengladbach were put to the sword by a clinical display by Bayer Leverkusen, who came to Borussia Park and played some superb football in a 3-1 win. That defeat saw Borussia drop to fourth in the table with Red Bull Leipzig also able to leapfrog them with a win on Sunday. That said, Borussia are a resilient side who have shown they can bounce back from poor results strongly. Bremen’s win could be the start of a fightback, or merely a flash in the pan for a side that have struggled so much defensively this season. I think Bremen’s fans hope for a miracle survival push may flounder here as I am backing Borussia to claim a narrow victory as they have done in most of the game between these sides in the past decade or so.

Bet Analysis: Wednesday 27th May

Fortuna Dusseldorf v Schalke 04 – Draw

If you check the form of both these teams, then you’d assume Schalke were the strugglers and Dusseldorf in the top half, but it is the other way around. Dusseldorf’s form has improved after a woeful start but they are struggling to win any games at home or on the road. Schalke’s form has fallen off a cliff of late and David Wagner is under real pressure to pick things up. As such, I feel both sides mentality here will be not to lose, hence I feel a draw is the most likely outcome.
