Midweek EPL Matchday 5 Acca – 30th & 31st August

Close call at the weekend, we got the right four results, but unfortunately a couple of the matches switched the results around that we needed to land the win. Still, it was another decent showing and makes me confident that the first win is around the corner.

Maybe it could come this week as we have two sets of games in the Premier League to look forward to. In midweek, across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we have a full set of games (Matchday 5) in the EPL, and this is followed by Matchday 6 at the weekend (more of that in the next set of tips coming up on Saturday).

Last weekend saw Arsenal maintain their 100% start, Manchester City come from 2-0 down to beat Crystal Palace 4-2, Manchester United land a second successive win with a narrow 1-0 win over Southampton while Liverpool hit just the nine goals in their demolition of Bournemouth at Anfield.

And weirdly, Mo Salah didn’t score any of them!

The games in midweek provide us with some intriguing matches with perhaps the biggest two games seeing West Ham United take on Tottenham in what could be a very interesting London derby while after smashing nine goals at the weekend, resurgent Liverpool face a very different test against the much-improved Newcastle.

Chelsea face a tricky trip to face Southampton, while Everton will hope to pick up more points as they travel to Yorkshire to take on a Leeds United side who have played well at home this season.

The surprise team in the EPL this year, Brighton, who are now 3rd in the table, travel to Fulham and we finish off the midweek games at the King Power Stadium as struggling Leicester come up against a Manchester United side that have won their last two games.

It should be an interesting midweek and here’s my tips for what matches to put in your midweek EPL acca.

Bet Analysis: Tuesday 30th August

Fulham v Brighton – Away Win

I do detect with Fulham a real strength of resolve to stay in this division longer than just one season. I think Marco Silva is a good manager and he has a solid squad, with the goals of Mitrovic likely to be key to their chances of survival. However, the home side are up against a Brighton team that lie 3rd in the table, are unbeaten in their 4 games this season and who have won both of their away games. That makes this a massive test for the home side, especially against a side that keep the ball as well as Brighton. This will be close with maybe just one goal scored, but I feel it will be Brighton that claim the win here.

Leeds Utd v Everton – Home Win

Leeds lost to Brighton at the weekend narrowly, while Everton picked up a second point of the season away to Brentford, that was a decent showing by the Toffees against a Brentford side in good form. However, I think Leeds at home are a tougher prospect than Brentford and the way Jesse Marsch has his team playing will I feel cause Everton plenty of problems. Frank Lampard has a real battle on his hands with this team and I can’t see them getting anything from this game. As such, I think backing Leeds to win makes perfect sense here.

Bet Analysis: Wednesday 31st August

West Ham v Tottenham – Away Win

Due to the quick turnaround in games this week, I am writing this before West Ham face Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon but it would not surprise me a great deal if the Hammers haven’t managed to pick up something from that game to head into this game with a point or so in the bag. Spurs are starting to look much more like an Antonio Conte team now, very solid defensively but with a fierce resistance in defence and midfield. However, it is the quality that Spurs have in attack with Kulusevski proving to be an inspired signing, that makes me feel that they will get the job done here.

Bet Analysis: Thursday 1st September

Leicester City v Manchester United – Away Win

Brendan Rodgers must feel as if he is under real pressure now at Leicester. After a poor season last year, the Foxes have started this season poorly and sit in the relegation zone ahead of this crucial game against a Manchester United who have now won their last two after the win over Southampton at the weekend. Those six points have moved United up the table and the confidence that they have gained from those victories should stand them in excellent stead here. Leicester away is not an easy game usually, but this may well be the best time for United to play them and I am backing Erik Ten Hag’s team to claim the victory here.
