Midweek Premier League Acca – 11th, 12th & 13th May

There’s something odd going on at the moment. For the last few weeks I have been pretty much unable to land any predictions correctly for games on a Saturday, but I have been pretty much on the money for every game played on a Sunday.

Does that mean I should focus my attention on Sunday’s games only from now on? I’m not too sure of that and anyway, with this midweek set of tips, that isn’t an option for me.

What I can promise you here is a very unusual set of tips as we have a lot of teams playing their games in hand from games postponed earlier in the season, as well as the two FA Cup Finalists playing their fixtures from the games that were scheduled for next weekend.

That means that Manchester United, as well as playing on Sunday against Aston Villa are also playing on Tuesday against Leicester and then on Thursday in the rearranged game against Liverpool and that has seen the bookies offering some pretty long odds on United landing home wins in both those games.

We also have a big London derby as Chelsea seek to cement third spot in the table by beating Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, just a few days after the Londoners beat their fellow Champions League finalists Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad.

Other games see Southampton taking on Crystal Palace and Aston Villa hosting Everton.

Let’s see our tips for four of these games this midweek.

Bet Analysis: Tuesday 11th May

Manchester United v Leicester City – Home Win

Manchester United are back in action 48-hours after their win at Aston Villa, this time taking on another midlands side, Leicester City. The Foxes lie fourth in the Premier League table after their 4-2 home defeat by Newcastle on Friday night, although they have had the luxury of 48 hours to recover for this game. In actual fact, I think United will be able to cope with this schedule due to the depth of their squad and I think Solskjaer will rest players for this game in particular. Even so, I expect the players who come in to be talented enough to lead United to another home win to keep closing the gap on Manchester City.

Bet Analysis: Wednesday 12th May

Chelsea v Arsenal – Home Win

Chelsea’s recent form is superb. Not only did they knock Man City out of the FA Cup, but they also qualified for the Champions League final (where they face City again) and then last weekend, beat Manchester City 2-1 in Manchester for a fantastic away win in the league that enhanced their prospects of Champions League football next season a great deal. As such, this Chelsea team should have huge confidence heading into this game with an Arsenal side that sent West Brom down with a 3-1 win at the weekend. Despite that result, I don’t really see the Gunners being able to muster much here against a Chelsea side looking very dominant at the moment. This should be a comfortable home win.

Bet Analysis: Thursday 13th May

Aston Villa v Everton – Away Win

They may be eighth in the table at the moment but Everton have a game in hand on most teams above them and if they win it, they can join West Ham on 58 points. That puts them within striking distance of the top four, if not a Europa League place for next season. That would represent solid progress for Carlo Ancelotti’s team who have been in the top half almost all of the season. Villa have also enjoyed a much better season this time around but they have won just one of their last five games and I think they may find this one a tough one too against a side with one of the best away records in the Premier League.  It will be close but I am backing Everton to win this by a single goal.

Manchester United v Liverpool – Home Win

This rearranged fixture hasn’t done United any favours as it means they play for the third time in five days and in this final game they face their fierce North West rivals. Both sides badly need a win and a draw doesn’t really help either side with what they are trying to achieve this season. I do think United will rest a lot of key men on Tuesday night to ensure they can play in this game and if they do, that will give United a great chance of getting a win over their rivals. The Reds defence still looks suspect to me and their attack isn’t firing and as such, this should be a United victory.
