Penultimate EPL Tips Of The Season – 20th, 21st May

Woohoo! Finally! Luck was on my side this past week in the UEFA competitions semi-final second legs as we landed a fantastic fourfold bet to take home £178.20 in winnings for just a £10 stake!

Added to our other wins over the course of the season, that means that once again, I am going to post a healthy profit over the bookmakers over the campaign, which is what it is all about!

It is a great feeling to land a winner, especially when for the last 6-8 weeks I have been so close on numerous occasions, and with a profit for the year assured, I am looking forward to this weekend’s set of games in the Premier League.

It’s the penultimate round of fixtures of the season and we could see a number of things decided this week depending on results, including the crowning of the new Champions, should Manchester City beat Chelsea, or Arsenal lose to Nottingham Forest, or if Manchester City match or better Arsenal’s result.

We could also see major moved in the battle for a top four place, with massive games for the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Brighton and on Monday Night, Newcastle United.

We then have two games in midweek (Brighton v Manchester City on Wednesday night and Manchester United v Chelsea on Thursday evening) before the final week of action next week, when anything not yet decided, will be!

So let’s get cracking with our set of tips for this weeks action.

Premier League Bet Analysis: Saturday 20th May

Liverpool v Aston Villa – Home Win

Liverpool’s run of seven successive Premier League wins is by far their best of the season so far, but it looks like it has come a little too late for the push for the Champions League spots with Newcastle and Manchester United needing just one more win from their final games to secure their places in the tournament. The Reds face an Aston Villa side who are in good form themselves and who are looking to perhaps sneak into European contention themselves after their win over Tottenham last week. However, Anfield is a tough place to go and win and only one team has done that this season (Leeds Utd) so while I think Villa will give the home side a tough game, I am going to go for another Liverpool win here to try and keep the pressure on in the race for the top four.

Bournemouth v Manchester United – Draw

This game produced one of the most famous FA Cup shocks of the 1980s when Harry Redknapp’s lower league Bournemouth defeated Manchester United and it is somewhat strange to think that these two teams are now rivals in the top flight. Bournemouth are safe for another season so the pressure is off them here and Gary O’Neil has done a fantastic job since taking over as manager. Manchester United would normally be the pick here but their away form this season has been extremely poor by their standards and with the Cherries in decent form and the pressure off, I think we could see a bit of a surprise here and the home side hold United to a draw.

Premier League Bet Analysis: Sunday 21st May

West Ham v Leeds United – Draw

West Ham’s fantastic 1-0 win away to AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night means that they go into the Europa Conference League final, their first European Final since the Cup Winners Cup Final back in 1976. They lost that time 4-2 to Anderlecht, with the final held in Belgium. This time they’ll face Italian opponents Fiorentina in Prague and you can be forgiven if their focus switches a little to that game. That could be an opportunity for Leeds United who badly need to pick up something from this game. I can’t see Big Sam engineering a win for Leeds at one of his (many) former clubs, but I can see him doing enough, and West Ham being tired and distracted enough, to secure Leeds a point which, if Everton and Leicester were to lose, could be enough to take them out of the drop zone.

Manchester City v Chelsea – Home Win

Can Manchester City wrap up the Premier League title for the fifth time in six years? After their stunning win over Real Madrid in midweek, few would bet against them doing precisely that at home to a Chelsea side who have been struggling for the majority of the season and who have not improved much under caretaker boss Frank Lampard. Usually, you would expect this game to be nervy for City, especially against an opponent who is usually one of their main rivals, but I can’t see that happening here. City are far too good and are in such a fantastic run of form that not only do I think that they will win, but I can see them doing so by a good few goals and in doing so, they’ll lift the Premier League trophy at the end of this game I am sure.
