Premier League Acca – 22nd & 23rd October

No luck in midweek despite a bright start and in what was a rather boring set of games so far (unless Thursday’s games turn out as all-time classics).

Suffice to say that I am glad we are putting those games behind us and moving onto Saturday’s and Sunday’s fixtures.

This weekend sees some more intriguing games as Chelsea host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge with the Londoner’s seeking their first win over United in the Premier League since 2017.

We also have a key game in North London for Tottenham too as they seek to bounce back from defeat at Old Trafford against Manchester United in midweek with a tough-looking home game against the in-form Newcastle United, with the North East side just five points behind Spurs now in the table.

Other games include Manchester City hosting a Brighton side without a win in their last four, while Everton face Crystal Palace having lost all of their last three games.

Leaders Arsenal face Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday while there’s a big Midlands showdown as Wolves and Leicester clash at Molineux with both desperate for points to move away from the foot of the table.

Let’s now take a look at the games we have lined up for this week’s accumulator.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 21st October

Manchester City v Brighton – Home Win

With no game in midweek, Manchester City head into this game more rested than any of their EPL opponents, but also on the back of two games without a win and without scoring a goal. A 0-0 draw in the Champions League away to Copenhagen being followed by their 1-0 loss at Anfield last weekend. Brighton had started the season very well but since Graham Potter left, they have struggled to pick up wins and scoring goals has proven to be a problem in some more recent games. They did score three at Anfield a while back but I think they are going to struggle to match that here against a City side who will want to end this mini-run of games without a goal or a win quickly to keep them hot on the tails of Arsenal.

Chelsea v Manchester United – Draw

One of the strange stats about this fixture I dug up when researching this game is that not only have the last four games between these two teams finished as a draw, but Chelsea have not actually managed to beat Manchester United in the Premier League since 2017. Their only wins in that time coming in cup competitions. United actually have by far a better record over their London rivals in that time period and after a solid home win over Spurs in midweek, they should be confident of picking something up here. Chelsea’s performances under Graham Potter have been somewhat mixed with some very good performances, especially in Europe, mixed in with some ordinary ones, chiefly in the EPL and because of that I am going for another draw here.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 22nd October

Leeds United v Fulham – Home Win

Both these teams are struggling for form at the moment having made relatively strong starts to the season and it is certainly the case that both are in desperate need of a win. Fulham lie in a better position in the table but a win for Leeds would see the Elland Road side move above them in the table, where things are very tight with 7 points separating 7th in the table from 18th. Leeds have played some good football at times in their poor run, so have Fulham in theirs, but it is that consistency of quality and an ability to keep teams out when defending that is hurting both teams. Leeds are overdue a win and with home support and against a team that is struggling with three defeats in their last five, I think that the home side will do enough to claim victory.

Tottenham v Newcastle United – Draw

This should be a very interesting game as Spurs come into the game in third place in the table but on the back of their second defeat of the season away to Manchester United on Wednesday. Newcastle however landed their third win in four games with a 1-0 win over Everton and the Toon Army have lost just one game all season long, and that came in the very last minute at Anfield. Spurs will want to bounce back from that defeat to United but Newcastle’s form at the moment is such that this will be an incredibly difficult game for the home team. With Allan Saint Maximin back and Bruno Guimares and Manuel Almiron in outstanding form, I think Newcastle will put up a real fight here and as such, claim a point from this trip to London.
