Premier League Acca Tip – 13th & 14th February
Well, I don’t really know what to make of my FA Cup tips. On the face of it, I got 3/4 correct, but two of those games required extra time to decide the victor and the other game I got right saw Leicester bag a 94th minute winner against Brighton to claim the win.
I don’t think I was the only one that didn’t see Southampton breaking a 5-game losing streak away to Wolves but having viewed that game in full, I have to say that they deserved it and I was shocked that Wolves decided to put out such a weakened team. It’s not like the Molineux trophy room is cram packed full with new stuff.
So yes, on the face of it close, but also lucky/unlucky depending on how you want to look at things. But in truth, that is how things have gone pretty much in recent weeks with the tips. Games have been producing so many unusual and unexpected results that you just take your solace and pick up the results where you can.
We’re back with the Premier League this weekend which is a positive and there are some very interesting clashes including the first game of the weekend at the King Power where third placed Leicester City face fourth placed Liverpool. We also have Manchester City facing Spurs later on in the day, while on Sunday there’s a cracker in London as Arsenal face Leeds.
Next week sees the return of European action in the Champions League and Europa League, so it is a good idea to check back next week for more tips on these games too. There are some crackers to look forward to.
Both these teams have suffered from a case of home jitters over the course of this season and I think that is probably to the benefit of Liverpool in this game. Leicester’s sole away defeat this season has come at Anfield in the league and Liverpool know that they need a result after that shocking defeat to Manchester City at Anfield last weekend. It will be interesting to see what Jurgen Klopp does for this game having had a rare week to prepare for it. Leicester have not had that luxury and I think that extra time Liverpool had may serve them well here and allow them to land a much needed win.
Manchester City v Tottenham – Home Win
Spurs were involved in a real FA Cup classic with Everton in midweek, going down to a 5-4 defeat in extra time. Manchester City followed up their great win at Liverpool with another fine win in the FA Cup at Swansea and in truth they are looking pretty much unstoppable at the moment. Pep Guardiola’s team have just hit form at the right time and with Spurs looking out of sorts, I would be hugely surprised if City do not win this game relatively comfortably. Even Harry Kane’s return for Tottenham won’t be enough here I feel.
Bet Analysis: Sunday 14th February
Southampton v Wolves – Home Win
Just a few days after the FA Cup clash between the teams that saw Southampton emerge as the winners, the two teams meet again in the league on the south coast. I didn’t see anything in that game that suggests Wolves chances of a win are going to be any better on the road. I know Wolves may have a few more first team players playing in this game but I think the boost Southampton will get in confidence from that win will serve them well here and they won that first game between the two so comfortably that I am expecting them to pick up a similar result in this game too.
Everton v Fulham- Home Win
After their exciting 5-4 FA Cup win over Tottenham in midweek, Everton will come into this game knowing a win could well catapult them back into top four contention, especially with Liverpool and Leicester playing each other (and Man City facing Spurs). Fulham have been tough to beat in recent times under Scott Parker but they have not won many games and as a result they have not made any real headway in moving out of the drop zone. This will be a close one and I think Fulham will make things difficult for the Toffees, but I do feel that the home side will have too much firepower for the Londoners and will take what could be a vital win here.
