Premier League Acca Tip – 3rd & 4th April

After what seems like an incredibly long international break, we get back to domestic action this weekend with the return of the Premier League over the Easter weekend. There are four games on Saturday, four on Sunday, with two on Monday night (Everton v Crystal Palace and Wolves v West Ham).

There are some cracking games to look forward to this weekend too, including a Yorkshire derby as Leeds take on Sheffield United, Leicester City locking horns once again with the side they beat 5-2 at the Etihad earlier this season, table topping Manchester City.

We also have a fantastic late game on Saturday as Arsenal battle it out with Liverpool at the Emirates. The action doesn’t stop on Sunday either with Newcastle facing Tottenham and Aston Villa taking on Fulham in two intriguing matches while the Sunday night game pits Manchester United against Brighton.

You may remember that we landed a winning acca bet a couple of weeks back in the Champions League, so I am hoping that we can continue our good form with another good selection here with the return of Premier League action.

Of course, we know that Manchester City are going to win the league, barring the greatest meltdown in the history of football, but the real battle over these last eight weeks of the season or so will be the race for a place in next year’s Champions League with the likes of Everton, Liverpool, Tottenham and even Aston Villa perhaps eying up moving up the table to displace one of the three teams occupying the spots below Manchester City.

It should therefore be a very exciting weekend of matches and I am hopeful that we can turn that into a profit with this selection of games.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 3rd April

Leicester City v Manchester City – Away Win

It seems a very long time ago that Leicester City thrashed Manchester City 5-2 at the Etihad Stadium. Back then it looked like Tottenham, Liverpool and Leicester would be battling it out at the top of the table, with the two Manchester clubs languishing in mid-table. Several months later and the two Manchester sides sit in the top two spots, City are miles ahead and Leicester are battling to stay in the top four. City’s recent form has been sensational and apart from the home loss to Manchester United a couple of weeks back, they have looked every inch the Champions. Leicester have beaten Man Utd and Liverpool at home in recent times but I think City are another level on to that once again and as such, I am backing the visitors to come away with an important win.

Arsenal v Liverpool – Home Win

Liverpool’s woes in recent times in the Premier League have come more often at Anfield than they have on the road and with the Reds having a decent record in London this season (winning at Spurs, West Ham, Crystal Palace and drawing at Fulham) you’d fancy the Reds chances here. Arsenal too are not playing he most consistent football at the moment and it seems they are stuttering from one good defeat one week to one poor defeat the next. However, the reason I have gone for the Gunners here is that their home record against Liverpool in recent years is relatively good and they have been a thorn in the side for Jurgen Klopp’s team over the last 18 months or so both in the league and also the cup. They also beat Liverpool to the Charity Shield in the season opener and I think they will do enough to land the win here.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 4th April

Newcastle Utd v Tottenham – Away Win

Steve Bruce is under huge pressure at Newcastle United as they are now just two points ahead of Fulham outside the relegation zone.  As such, any game they play is now a must-win game for them and they face a Spurs side who are sixth in the table and who have one of the most potent attacking forces in the Premier League in Kane, Son and Bale. Despite that Spurs have been woefully inconsistent at times this season and as such, you can never quite rule out a below par performance. I don’t think we will see that here though as I am backing Kane and company to deliver and for Spurs to take the win.

Aston Villa v Fulham – Draw

Aston Villa’s form of late has tailed off a bit since their early season promise and they take on a Fulham side who, while not losing many games of late, also isn’t perhaps winning enough of them. Villa have drawn five games this season, but Fulham have drawn 11 and I think that this is the smart bet here between two sides both feeling that a defeat would be a really poor result, whereas a point would not be too bad a result in the scheme of things. I can’t see many goals here so I think 0-0 or 1-1 is the most likely outcome.
