Premier League Acca Tip – Matchday 3
We didn’t quite manage to get the tips sorted last time around, but we are back for the third week of action in the Premier League in what has proven to be something of an eye-opening season already.
We landed two high odds draws in the first weekend but couldn’t quite follow them up with the other results, but I am confident that we can get back to winning ways with a nice selection of games this weekend.
The action gets underway on Friday night with Everton facing Aston Villa, but our focus will be on the games taking place on Saturday and Sunday which includes a massive game at Anfield between the two teams with 100% records in the Premier League this season, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Let’s take a look at our acca tip for the coming weekend.
I think Frank Lampard will have had something of a reality check over the last couple of weeks. Chelsea are yet to win a game this season and in truth, they probably should have lost the game last weekend with Leicester City at Stamford Bridge. Norwich bounced back well from a defeat at Liverpool to beat Newcastle at home and I think Daniel Farke’s men could be set to spring a big surprise in this game, as you can tell from my prediction. Chelsea have struggled for creativity and there is a gaping maw in the team where Eden Hazard used to be and even the talented young players coming through cannot bridge that kind of gap. Norwich I think will be a real test for any side at home this season and with Chelsea lacking confidence I am backing the Canaries to land a surprise win here.
Sheff Utd v Leicester City – Away Win
Two teams that I feel have started the season well and both of whom are unbeaten will meet at Bramhall Lane in what should be a cracking match. Chris Wilder has done a fantastic job with the Blades since taking over and to even be in the Premier League is a superb achievement but I think they are going to find Leicester City a very tough nut to crack. Having earned draws with Wolves and Chelsea, the Foxes have started the season well and I think Brendan Rodgers will be keen to capitalise on that start by picking up a tricky three points here. I just feel that added quality the Foxes have, notably in midfield and attack will be the difference between the teams here.
Liverpool v Arsenal – Home Win
It seems strange to think that after two games that there are just two teams in the Premier League with a 100% winning record but that is very much the case and after this game, there may be one, or even no team, with a record of three wins. I think it is fair to say I don’t think Liverpool or Arsenal have really hit their very best form as yet this season. Liverpool are scoring goals but look susceptible defensively and you can say pretty much the same with this Arsenal team, although their new signing Nicolas Pepe does look a threat. I can’t see this game being the same kind of 5-1 rout Liverpool landed in the fixture last season, but I do feel both teams will score but that it will be the home team Reds that come away with the win.
Bet Analysis: Sunday 11th August
Wolves v Burnley – Home Win
Wolves made plenty of friends last season when they gave the top six sides a real fright at various points of the season, but they also tended to struggle more against the lesser lights in the Premier League, losing twice, for example, to relegated Huddersfield. Burnley will be hoping to capitalise on that as they have made a solid start to the season and a narrow defeat away to Arsenal last weekend won’t have hurt their hopes too much here. I like what I am seeing from both of these teams and while most pundits may just have Wolves the favourites here, I am backing this one to see the points shared after a hard fought match.
