Premier League Acca Tips for 26th-28th January
A mixed week last week with two games on the money and two off the mark, although in both the games we didn’t land the results, I felt those games could have gone our way on another day.
Still, onward and upward we go and this week we have another double week of Premier League action with one full set of games in midweek from Tuesday to Thursday and then the usual set of matches taking place at the weekend.
This midweek sees some very intriguing games as struggling Liverpool face a massively important game away to Tottenham, Leicester City travel to Merseyside to take on fifth-placed Everton, while the top two, Man Utd and Manchester City look to have winnable games against the bottom two, Sheffield United and West Brom respectively.
In form West Ham face a London derby against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, while two out of form sides, Newcastle and Leeds United, meet up at St James’ Park. Unusually, Southampton and Arsenal meet again just a few days after the Saints landed a 1-0 FA Cup Fourth Round win over the Gunners at the weekend.
It should be a very interesting set of games with plenty on the line for a number of teams. and with a clear gap now appearing at both ends of the table, results of these games could go a long way towards deciding the outcome of both the title and relegation battles.
Here’s my tips for this set of midweek games in the Premier League.
West Ham are in a rich vein of form at the moment having won all of their last five games in all competitions and along with Man City and Leicester, they are the form team in the Premier League at the moment. They face a tricky London derby here against a Palace side that are capable of beating anyone on their day, but equally just as likely to lose to anybody. That inconsistency does make them a tricky team to consider for acca bets, but I feel that West Ham’s confidence at the moment must be sky high. Defensively they look rock solid and I think that they can use that to their advantage here to land a narrow win.
Bet Analysis: Wednesday 27th January
Brighton v Fulham – Home Win
The importance of this game is huge at the foot of the table. Fulham are 18th but are five points behind Brighton in 17th. A win for Fulham, cuts that gap to two and they would have a game in hand on the Seagulls. However, a win for Brighton makes that gap eight points and would leave Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United somewhat cut adrift at the foot of the table. Fulham come into this game on the back of three defeats in a row, while Brighton’s form is much better with just one defeat in their last five. The Seagulls are poor at home with the worst home record in the Premier League but this is the game where I feel they can and will break their duck.
Everton v Leicester City – Away Win
Leicester have won all of their last five games and they face an Everton side that have won four of their last five too. The Toffees also have Dominic Calvert-Lewin back from injury, and he made a goalscoring return in their 3-0 FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend. However the Foxes also enjoyed a big win in that competition over Brentford and I feel the way they are playing, especially on the counter attack, is going to cause Everton lots of problems. The Toffees struggled at home to West Ham recently and I can see Leicester playing in a similar way here. This will be close, but I do think the Foxes will keep up their good form by nicking a narrow win.
Bet Analysis: Thursday 28th January
Tottenham v Liverpool – Home Win
Liverpool’s woeful form continued with a 3-2 loss in the FA Cup to Man Utd at Old Trafford at the weekend. They are without a Premier League win in their last five games, losing two of those and they now face a SPurs side a point behind them with a game in hand. The Reds are now six points behind Man Utd and a defeat here could see that extended to nine, which would be too much to claw back given their form. With Spurs having Harry Kane and Son in golden form against that weak Reds back line, I can’t see anything other than a home win here.
