Premier League Accumulator – 15th & 16th January

Woo Hoo! It didn’t take me too long to get off the mark in 2022 as last week’s fourfold bet came in landing me another prize of £108.50!

Add that to all the other wins I have had so far this year and I reckon I am close to covering every acca bet I will make this season, and I still have around half the season to to ensure that I turn that into a profit!

It’s a lovely feeling when you know that you have covered your season’s bets, but I don’t want to rest there. It isn’t about winning back the money I bet, I want to make the bookies pay me more than they take from me!

So with that in mind, I have put together what I feel is another absolutely cracking accumulator bet this weekend in the Premier League. We’ve reached Matchday 22 of the season, so just over the half-way mark and my gut feeling is that this set of fixtures is ripe for me to land another win.

We’ve got some massive games this weekend including Manchester City facing Chelsea as first take on third and we also have fourth placed Arsenal taking on sixth placed Tottenham away from home, with both teams looking to bounce back from cup exits last week, Arsenal in the FA Cup, Spurs in the Carabao Cup.

On top of that we have a couple of ‘replays’ of FA Cup ties from last week such as Aston Villa facing Man Utd and West Ham taking on Leeds, while Liverpool have a must win home game against Brentford.

Let’s now take a look at the games I have backed for this week’s accumulator.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 15th January

Burnley v Leicester City – Away Win

Burnley’s season took another blow this week when they sold striker Chris Wood to Newcastle United for £25 million. His absence will be keenly felt at Turf Moor where he had scored double digits in the past four seasons playing a key role in Burnley staying up. As yet they have not moved to replace him and they face a Leicester City side in good form, despite losing a number of players to the African Cup of Nations. Even so, I think Brendan Rodgers team have more than enough quality to step into the team and they have such good attacking talent in the team, that seem to be finding their form, that I think the Foxes will land a key away win here.

Norwich City v Everton – Away Win

Both of these two teams are desperate for the points, Norwich to give themselves any chance of staving off relegation, while Everton badly need the points to reduce the pressure on Rafa Benitez amongst growing disquiet with elements of their fan base. I struggle to see Norwich picking up too many points over the rest of the season if I am being honest and with Everton investing in some new players already in the transfer window, as well as selling Lucas Digne to Aston Villa, I think Rafa will have enough quality with Dominic Calvert-Lewin coming back especially, to claim a much needed victory here.

Wolves v Southampton – Home Win

Wolves do not concede many goals and they have the second best defensive record in the Premier League with just 14 goals conceded, however they also have the second worst attacking record with the same number of goals scored. Southampton had a good win in midweek at home to Brentford and they’ll take great confidence from that but Saints are a team that do blow hot and cold and after being excellent in midweek, I think they are going to find Wolves a very tough nut to crack here. I almost went for the draw here as 0-0 looks possible, but in the end I just fancied Wolves to nick this one 1-0.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 16th January

West Ham United v Leeds United – Home Win

We tipped a West Ham United win in the game between these two last week in the FA Cup and the Hammers duly obliged and following a win over Norwich in midweek to take themselves back into the top four, the Hammers will be confident about taking on 16th placed Leeds United. The visitors didn’t really ever look like troubling West Ham in their FA Cup encounter and with the Hammers very much on the look out for points to maintain a top four challenge, I think a similar performance and result to last week’s 2-0 win is on the cards here.
