Premier League Matchday 15 Acca Tip – 12th-13th November

Welcome to one of the most unusual points of a Premier League season, the not-quite-halfway point of the season mid-season World Cup break!

This is the last set of games before the players selected for their teams playing in the World Cup will head off to Qatar to prepare and compete for football’s biggest prize, but for me, the excitement this year hasn’t been quite the same.

There’s the whole issue with Qatar of course but also the fact it comes at this point of the year, just feels weird and wrong. Sepp Blatter admitted it was a mistake. Pity it took him 12 years and plenty of money in the bank to realise what we all knew when Russia and Qatar got the votes.

Still, I’ll be cheering on England and Wales more in hope than conviction especially given England’s latest form but before we can focus on that, we have this set of tips for the games.

This will be the last set of tips in the EPL until just before Christmas, so I’ll be back then with my usual tips right the way through to the end of the season, whenever that will be!

We were so close last week and we just needed Manchester United to beat Aston Villa to secure another win of just shy of £200, but the Red Devils folded in the Midlands and Villa secured the win, which while nice for their fans, was a real downer for me.

Still, I’ve dusted myself off and come up with this pre-World Cup acca for this last set of EPL games this weekend.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 12th November

Bournemouth v Everton – Home Win

Strangely enough, these two teams met in the week in the Carabao Cup in the exact same fixture, although with likely much-changed sides from this weekend’s clash and it was Bournemouth who ran out emphatic 4-1 winners over the Toffees, who were lucky to end the game with 10 men after a poor challenge from Anthony Gordon. Sure, Everton can bring in a number of players that didn’t start in midweek, Conor Coady, James Tarkowski, Jordan Pickford, Dwight McNeil, Demarai Gray, Alex Iwobi to name but a few but is that enough to  turn the tide here, especially when Bournemouth can also recall a number of players too? I am not so sure that it is. The fact this is the Premier League may focus Everton but I am still going for a narrow Bournemouth victory here.

West Ham v Leicester City – Away Win

I thought Leicester would get something at Everton last week, although I admit I thought it would be a point, but I was not surprised that they came away with all three points from that game. Finally, the Foxes seem to be waking up and I think that they can head into this game against a West Ham side who seem to take two steps back for every one step forward at the moment, with real impetus and confidence. James Maddison surely has to go to the World Cup in the form he has been in and to leave him out would be a travesty, but even so I expect him to be the key once again to help Leicester to continue their recovery from a poor start by claiming all three points here too.

Wolves v Arsenal – Away Win

Arsenal’s win away at Chelsea was a crucial one for the team’s confidence, so said Mikel Arteta, and he is right as a win away against a top six opponent is a massive result in terms of the title race and for future confidence for this team. Wolves finally found the net two times against Brighton last weekend but it was still not enough as they went down 3-2 at home against the Seagulls and it does seem at the moment that the home side cannot buy a result. The Gunners are flying and I can’t see them waving goodbye to many of their stars ahead of the World Cup without picking up three points here first.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 13th November

Fulham v Manchester United – Draw

United let me down last week for what would have been a win of just under £200 and so I didn’t really want them to be the last leg of my acca this week, especially when they are on the road again against a Fulham side who have been in pretty decent form of late. The Londoners still remain in the top half, 9th place, and they have lost just once at home this season (to Newcastle United).  The Red Devils have struggled on the road this season too and I think that this could be another tough one for them. I can’t quite see Fulham having enough to win the game, but I do feel they will do enough to secure a point here.
