Sunday’s Fourfold Special – Sunday 21st April

We have a special Sunday fourfold bet this week including the three games taking place in the Premier League, plus another top game from La Liga (where for some reason, I have an excellent record at picking the right result, even the tough to predict draws), so I am confident that this Sunday fourfold could break my streak of near misses over the last few weeks.

That’s if, of course, my Saturday fourfold yesterday hasn’t already come in for me. If it has, and I am confident it stands a good chance, then I am looking for this bet to add to that profit!

Sunday’s games see a number of the top six in action, as well as Cardiff City, who are desperate for points to avoid relegation and who earned a superb win at Brighton in midweek to give themselves a chance of doing precisely that. The problem for the Bluebirds is that they face a Liverpool team battling for top spot in the Premier League and who seem to have hit form at just the right time.

The other two games see Arsenal take on Crystal Palace at the Emirates while at Goodison Park, Everton face Manchester United in what should be an intriguing clash between the two North West rivals who both head into this game on the back of defeats, Everton at Fulham last weekend and United away to Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek.

To finish off the fourfold, I have gone for the evening game in La Liga between Valencia and Real Betis which should be a cracking and close encounter.

So without any further ado, here’s my tips for Sunday.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 20th April

Everton v Manchester United – Home Win

Both these teams come into the game after disappointing defeats, United away to Barcelona where some uncharacteristic sloppy defending and goalkeeping played a key role in their 3-0 defeat, while Everton were abysmal in losing 2-0 at Fulham last weekend, a game which also saw Andre Gomes suspended for three games for stamping on Alexandar Mitrovic. His absence is a blow for Everton but not, I believe, a mortal one. UNited have lost five of the last seven in recent times and their confidence does look to have taken a beating. They have a good record against Everton recently, but Goodison Park is a tough place to go and Everton need to bounce back after that Fulham result. This will be close, but I am just edging Everton to snatch a win here.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace – Home Win

The last game between these sides finished in an entertaining 2-2 draw with two Milivojevic penalties earning Palace a share of the spoils at Selhurst Park. The Gunners have generally been in excellent form at home this season and in truth, even though Palace have played very well on the road against top six sides in general, they have an abysmal record against Arsenal that makes them almost impossible to back here. How bad is it? Palace have won just two of the last 32 games between the teams. With home advantage, I don’t see that record improving much here and I’m backing Arsenal to claim the win.

Cardiff City v Liverpool – Away Win

I must admit, I felt if Cardiff City lost to Brighton in midweek then this game would be an easy win for Liverpool. However, Cardiff produced a superb display to gain a deserved win over the Seagulls which closes the gap on Chris Hughton’s team to two points and this means this game is now huge for both teams. A win for Cardiff could move them out of the drop zone (depending on how Brighton do against Wolves at Molineux) while Liverpool of course are chasing the league title. As much as Cardiff will be up for this, there is a gulf in quality and if Liverpool can win in Munich and Porto, then I think they should have enough quality to get the job done here too.

Real Betis v Valencia – Draw

Real Betis come into this game in 9th place in the table with 43 points from their 32 league games. Valencia are well ahead of them in 6th place with 49 points, but they did lose their last game on the road somewhat surprisingly, Vallecano inflicting a 2-0 defeat on Los Merengues, in what was only their fifth defeat of the season.  Betis home form is generally good and they beat Villarreal at home last time out. They also owe Valencia for losing to them 3-2 on aggregate in the Copa del Rey semifinals earlier in the year. The first leg of that game finished in a 2-2 draw and I can see this game also finishing all-square between two well-matched sides.
