Tuesday’s Football Acca – Tue 23rd April

We were so close on our two midweek acca’s last time out, both times hitting three results on the money only for one result to let us down. On the Champions League acca, it was the Juventus v Ajax tie and on the Europa League it was Arsenal’s surprise win over Napoli that scuppered what would have been a bumper week.

Still with six out of eight correct and still Sunday’s tips to go after another near miss on Saturday, I feel like that elusive win is close by and at least I am on the mark with the majority of my selections.

Originally, I was going to pair up the two sets of EPL games in midweek this week for one acca, but buoyed by my near misses, I have gone for two again, both days will see two EPL games and two matches from La Liga in Spain who have a full schedule of games also taking place in midweek this week.

One thing to note with the La Liga games is that some do kick off a little earlier than here in the UK, with Tuesday’s first game starting at 6.30pm, so remember to get your bet on before then if you are going to have a flutter on the selections below.

Let’s hope these four tips prove to be a winner.

Bet Analysis: Tuesday 23rd April

Recreativo Huesca v Eibar – Draw

Neither of these two teams heads into this game in a great run of form. Eibar have won one of their last eight and have not won on the road since a 3-2 win in Girona back in October. Huesca are bottom of the table but have drawn all of their last four games, including a home game with Barcelona. Eibar have had 13 draws from 33 games this season and Huesca have had 11 draws from their 33 games which suggests to me, especially with this being a match on home soil, that the points being shared between the teams looks to be the most likely option.

Tottenham v Brighton – Home Win

After their Champions League’s heroics, Spurs were brought down to earth at the weekend when losing 1-0 to Manchester City in the league. That result means Spurs now face a huge battle with Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea for qualification in the Champions League, especially with only third place absolutely guaranteed to see the team enter with Chelsea and Arsenal still in with a chance of winning the Europa League (and thereby claiming the fourth spot for an English team). Brighton though have an equally important task facing them, staying in the Premier League and with a very tough run of games to end the season, they could well be in real danger here if Cardiff can pick up two wins from their last four games. I can’t see Brighton getting anything at Spurs’ new home ground and I’m going for a comfortable home win here.

Watford v Southampton – Home Win

Watford have moved up to seventh in the Premier League at the weekend on the back of their win at Huddersfield and Javi Gracia’s team are in good form, winning two of their last three games. Southampton have won three of their last five and in general, they look a much better outfit under Ralf Hassenhuttl, but in recent weeks they have started to ship goals and while they are also scoring, it is making landing victories difficult. Watford, even with 10-men, gave Arsenal a real fright and with FA Cup Final places up for grabs, I am expecting the Hornets players to put on another excellent display here and add to the Saints woes by landing a victory in this one.

Alaves v Barcelona – Away Win

Alaves have had a decent season in La Liga despite a downturn in their form of late which has seen them drop down to eighth place in the table. Their last win was away at Huesca in March and since then they have drawn two of their last five, losing the other three. Barcelona were uncharacteristically poor in their last away game, drawing 0-0 at Huesca, but they hold a clear lead at the top of the table and two more wins will be enough for them to clinch the La Liga title. Even if Messi is rested for this game, I still feel they have more than enough quality throughout the squad for them to pick up a solid win here.
