Wednesday’s Football Acca – Wed 27th February

The second set of fixtures in one of the few Premier League midweek matchdays takes place onAcca Tips Wednesday night with the majority of teams in action in the six games that night. All of the top six will be playing this evening including Manchester City who face West Ham United at home and Liverpool, who are back at Anfield following their trip to Old Trafford at the weekend to face Watford.

The big game on the night though pits Chelsea against Tottenham in what is now a must-win game for both teams. Spurs need the win after they went down to a 2-1 defeat to Burnley at the weekend and another defeat here could well signal the end of any title hopes they had. In contrast Chelsea, who were in action in the Carabao Cup Final at the weekend, will know that with Arsenal and Manchester United now above them in the league, if they are to claim Champions League football next season then a win here against Spurs is a must.

There’s also crucial action from the bottom of the Premier League with two clubs in real danger of relegation facing off at St Mary’s as Southampton take on Fulham. Claudio Ranieri hasn’t quite worked the magic he would have hoped for at Fulham as yet but Ralph Hassenhuttl had started well at Southampton, although his team do seem to have gone off the boil a little of late. This is a game both teams will feel is winnable and which is a massive three points for both.

Let’s hope that we can land our next big acca winner with this selection of games from Wednesday night’s games.

Bet Analysis: Wednesday 27th February

Arsenal v Bournemouth – Home Win

The Gunners home form over the last few weeks has been solid, it is their away form that has been their main issue and as such, I would not expect Bournemouth to be too problematic a team to deal with on Wednesday night. The Cherries have some real talent in their squad, particularly going forward, but too often they have been unable to back one good result up with another. This inconsistency must be frustrating for Eddie Howe and has resulted in his team slipping down the table of late. In truth, I can’t see that improving any at the Emirates on Wednesday as I am expecting Arsenal to register a relatively comfortable home win.

Southampton v Fulham – Home Win

Quite simply, this is a must-win game for both these sides and while Southampton’s plight is nowhere near as bad as Fulham’s, the Saints will know a defeat here would put Fulham just four points behind them and revive their hopes of staying up. Fulham know that they are now at the stage of the season where they simply have to win games, draws will no longer be enough and I’d expect to see a mentality that follows that from Ranieri’s team. The problem they have is that I feel Southampton have improved a lot under Ralph Hassenhuttl and I think that they have the quality going forward to open up this Fulham defence and put them to the sword to claim the win and a huge three points.

Chelsea v Tottenham – Home Win

Will Kepa the keeper be in goal for Chelsea, or will Sarri axe him from the team following his Carabao Cup Final refusal to be substituted? Those scenes at Wembley will live long in the memory as they seem to have hastened Sarri’s seemingly inevitable departure from Chelsea. That said, Chelsea have been excellent at home in the league recently, their problems all coming away from Stamford Bridge in the main and with Spurs losing at Burnley and now under real pressure to stay in the title race, this is the first of a tough run of matches for Mauricio Pochettino’s team and I think it may well be one that they don’t quite get the result from. This will be close but I do feel home advantage sways this one in favour of Chelsea.

Crystal Palace v Manchester United – Away Win

Manchester United’s injury list for this game is worrying for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who may have to adopt a completely different approach to this game with his first choice front three likely to be absent. Palace in contrast look fit and strong and have found great form at the right time, resulting in a 4-1 thumping of Leicester at the weekend. Roy Hodgson’s men will fancy their chances against United here, but something tells me that their inconsistency will dog them again here and that United will continue their dominance of this fixture by claiming a win here.
