Weekend EPL Acca Bet – 8th & 9th October

No luck with our Champions League selections in midweek, though I am hopeful that my Europa League selections for Thursday night will still come good and of course, there is always this set of tips for the weekend’s action in the Premier League to give us another shot at a win.

There are nine games across Saturday and Sunday this week, with the Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa midlands clash taking place on Monday Night.

The most intriguing games are on Sunday with a London derby as West Ham take on Fulham, then Arsenal face Liverpool in what should be a hugely intriguing clash to see where both teams are at this season.

Then in the evening in a rare Sunday night game, we see Everton hosting Manchester United at Goodison Park, with the Toffees unbeaten in their last five games, with two wins from their last two against a United side that have now lost two of their last three games in all competitions.

Other games this weekend see Manchester City hosting a Southampton side that drew with them twice last season, Chelsea take on Wolves after a superb showing against Milan in the Champions League in midweek and third takes on fourth in the Premier League as Brighton host Tottenham.

As usual, I have gone through this weeks selection of games and come up with the following selections for my tip.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 8th October

Bournemouth v Leicester City – Away Win

Leicester got a very much needed, and comprehensive, first win of the season last Monday night against Nottingham Forest, a result which moved them off the bottom of the table for the first time in several weeks and one that should give Brendan Rodgers team the impetus to kick on. Bournemouth have started the season brightly but in the last few years we have seen a number of newly promoted sides do this but then drop back into the relegation battle. I think the Foxes will fancy their chances of landing two wins together here with James Maddison especially in good form and with both first choice strikers finding the net in that win. As such, while it will be close, I am backing Leicester to add a second win of the season here.

Chelsea v Wolves – Home Win

Chelsea played superbly in midweek, cruising to a comfortable home win over a very disappointing Milan side who I expected to put up a much greater fight. In fact, I think struggling Wolves may well put up a stronger fight here, especially since their manager Ruben Lago was sacked by the board earlier in the week with Wanderers in the drop zone. Chelsea’s form in the league hasn’t been great this season but with Graham Potter now starting to mould the side into the shape and style of play that he wants, I do feel results will start to improve and I think that even despite Wolves managerial issue, and the bump in form teams can get when they appoint someone new, the home side will still do enough to land the win here.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 9th October

Arsenal v Liverpool – Home Win

Having lost to Manchester United, this is Arsenal’s next big test as they seek to hold on to top spot in the Premier League. The visitors, Liverpool, have not enjoyed a great start to the season but two wins in the Champions League, including a 2-0 win over Rangers in midweek, should have steadied the ship a bit, especially after that 3-3 draw at home with Brighton last weekend. However, Liverpool are just looking too rocky defensively for me to be confident of them here and with Darwin Nunez not in the best form, the Reds look unusually toothless at times. Arsenal are playing some great football at the moment and they have a good home record over Liverpool in general and as such, I am backing them to land a narrow win here.

Everton v Manchester United – Draw

Everton’s improved form sees them unbeaten in their last five, winning their last two and they have gone from being in the drop zone to comfortably in mid table after that run. They’ll find Manchester United a tough test though, especially after the Red Devils were thrashed by Manchester City last weekend. United play on Thursday night, meaning this game was moved to Sunday and that should help United more than Everton here in my view. The Red Devils have a good record at Goodison over the years generally, but I think this Everton side is proving very tough to beat and as such, I am backing the home side to put up a stern fight here and emerge from the game with a share of the spoils following a score draw.
