Weekend EPL Accumulator – 5th & 6th December

It was another game of two halves last weekend with our tips. Saturday was not great, although I felt hard done to that Liverpool didn’t win only due to a last gasp and entirely debatable penalty. However Sunday, rather annoyingly, both games came in pretty much bang on the money as I had predicted. That meant a profit elsewhere on my bets, but not on this acca unfortunately.

I’m still not sure how my midweek tips went in the Champions League and Europa League due to the very quick turnaround between games at the moment, but hopefully we’ll have landed a win in either of those sets of tips. If not then don’t panic as we are back at it again this coming weekend with this set of tips for the Premier League games taking place across the weekend.

With the Aston Villa v Newcastle game postponed on Friday and the Brighton v Southampton south coast clash taking place on Monday night, this means we have a total of eight games to pick from across the weekend, four apiece on Saturday and Sunday and there are some cracking games to enjoy here including Liverpool v Wolves, West Ham v Manchester United, Chelsea v Leeds and the North London derby between table-topping Tottenham and Arsenal.

As usual, I have gone through the eight games and selected what I think are the best combination of games for this fourfold accumulator bet, but one that also offers us a chance of a decent return if the bets do land. I also have a soft spot for this time of year as it was around here when I won my largest ever acca bet, an eightfold bet for just under £3,000 a few years back. Let’s hope we have similar luck this weekend with this selection of games.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 5th December

Burnley v Everton – Away Win

Burnley received their yearly thrashing at Manchester City last week while Everton were losing for the fourth time in five games at home to Leeds. Neither team will be pleased with that and both will want a reaction here. Turf Moor can be a tough place to go but with Burnley’s form not that great, I fancy Everton to finally get rid of that losing feeling here and claim a narrow victory.

West Ham v Manchester United – Away Win

West Ham lie a lofty fifth in the table after winning all of their last three games, which will put them in a great frame of mind for the visit of Manchester United on Saturday. The Red Devils have also won their last three Premier League games and they are not too far behind the Hammers, with a game in hand to play. This is therefore a big game for both clubs and while West Ham’s recent form has been solid, they do strike me as a side who are capable of being great one week, but awful the next. United’s away form has been their saving grace this season as they have struggled at home and I think that with the players they have, the visitors have enough quality to pick up another three points on the road here.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 6th December

Sheff Utd v Leicester City – Away Win

Sheffield United’s season has fallen off a cliff with the Blades picking up just one point from their games so far and looking very much relegation bound. They don’t concede a huge amount of goals, but just four goals scored going forward is a poor return for a team that are now looking hugely lacking in confidence. Leicester were well beaten last weekend by Fulham and that came on the back of a loss at Anfield to Liverpool but I think Brendan Rodgers men will be ready to bounce back here against a side that just don’t look likely to win a game simply because they can’t score a goal. I can see Leicester scoring at least one here and in truth, that may be all that they need to land the win.

Tottenham v Arsenal – Home Win

The North London derby is always one of the biggest games of the season in the Premier League and there is a lot at stake in this game. Tottenham are top of the table heading into the weekend here and need a win to ensure they stay there. Arsenal are 14th in the table and suffering a real drop off in form and Mikel Arteta knows that the pressure is on him to turn this around. A win at the clubs most fierce rivals would go a long way towards achieving that but I just feel that the Gunners chances of that are very slim. Spurs are playing well at the moment and they have started to show that steely discipline that has been a trademark of Jose Mourinho’s teams over the years. Playing the game at home also benefits Spurs too, who have not lost in the EPL since the opening day and as such, I am backing Kane, Son and Co to earn the home side a win here.
