Weekend Premier League Acca – 12th & 13th March

After being so close the other weekend to a Premier League acca win, and a sizeable one at that, I am hoping that my luck will turn with this weekend’s set of fixtures.

I’m not too worried at the moment. I am still well in profit for the season having banked well over £300 in returns over the first half of the season leading up to Christmas and I feel another decent win will guarantee me a profit on the year.

This weekend we have a full set of fixtures in the Premier League for the first time in what seems a little while, although there is one game taking place on Monday night (Crystal Palace hosting Manchester City) which means that we have nine fixtures to select from across the weekend.

There are some cracking games to look at this weekend that will have major impact at the top and bottom of the table too, especially in the race for a Champions League place next season and in the battle against relegation.

We did have some games on the past Thursday night too, with important wins for Wolves, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle all bringing those teams three vital points as they seek to improve their position in the table.

There will also be a couple of games in midweek next week as teams seek to catch up on some of the fixtures that were postponed earlier in the season, or which have been rearranged due to cup commitments and the like.

Anyway, here’s my selection of tips for this weekend’s Premier League action.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 12th March

Brighton v Liverpool – Away Win

Liverpool have found life tough in their past two games, narrowly beating West Ham before suffering a defeat to Inter, although they still went through to the next stage of the Champions League. They face a tricky trip to Brighton this weekend, a side who gave them a real fright in a 2-2 draw at Anfield earlier in the season. However, at that time Brighton were flying high and in good form but they come into this game on the back of four straight defeats, their worst run of the season. Liverpool have scored just three goals in their last four games in all competitions, and they will know that nothing less than a win here will suffice in their battle with Manchester City. I think Luis Diaz though does give them an extra edge so I am backing the visitors to land the win here.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 13th March

Everton v Wolves – Away Win

If Frank Lampard had any illusions about the size of the task facing him at Goodison Park this season, then they will have been dispelled in Monday night’s 5-0 thrashing by Tottenham. It was a dismal performance by Everton and the manager will be hoping that his team can put on a much better showing at home against Wolves here. The problem is, Wolves ended a three-game losing streak in midweek with a 4-0 demolition of Watford, which featured a stunning chipped finish from Ruben Neves for the fourth goal. Both teams have won three apiece of the last six, but for me, Wolves are in a better place than Everton at the moment and I fancy them to sneak a win here.

Leeds United v Norwich City – Draw

These two teams are in the midsts of a long run of losses and usually I try to avoid games where teams like this are facing each other. Ordinarily, I would have backed Leeds to win here, if Marcelo Bielsa was in charge, but I think Jesse Marsch is going to have his work cut out to elevate this team the way Bielsa did. Norwich need something and something very quickly if they are to stand any chance of avoiding the drop and I feel they can get something here in this match between two teams devoid of confidence. I think both will settle for ending their long losing streaks here as I feel a draw is most likely on the cards.

West Ham v Aston Villa – Draw

After a tough game in midweek against Sevilla, which they lost 1-0, West Ham now face a tough home game against an in-form Villa side who have won all their last three games, scoring nine goals and conceding none in the process. The Hammers will be boosted with the return of Declan Rice from illness, but by the same token since signing Philippe Coutinho, the Brazilian has elevated the level of Aston Villa’s attacking play markedly and I think he is going to be a difficult man for the Hammers to stop. This could be a cracking game but I feel the Villains will do enough to earn a share of the spoils here.
