Weekend Premier League Acca – 6th & 7th March

We were very close in midweek to landing a win. We hit three results on the money, including Chelsea’s win at Anfield and Tottenham’s win at Fulham but the one result that let us down was Leicester not quite achieving that away win at Burnley.

So it was another near miss, which has been the story of the season for me so far. I’ve lost count of how many times we have hit three out of the four games but missed out on the other just by a single goal one way or the other. It’s frustrating but that is how accumulator betting goes. The good news is that you only need one win over the course of the season to guarantee yourself a profit, provided it is big enough of course.

With that in mind, I have decided to throw caution to the wind a little this weekend. There are some longer odds options available here that ordinarily, I would probably select just one of to boost the odds on the accumulator a bit. However, I feel now is the time to try and do something a little different!

Who knows, maybe going a bit more expansive with my selections may pay off! It’s certainly been a season for weird results!

Anyway, I have put together the following four matches this weekend and this is a very long odds bet compared to what I usually do, but even so, I still feel that all things given, this bet stands a decent chance at coming in.

Fingers crossed we can land a whopper this weekend!

Here’s my selections for this week’s acca bet.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 6th March

Sheffield United v Southampton – Draw

Southampton’s Premier League form has been dismal of late with eight defeats in their last nine games. They now travel to Bramall Lane to take on bottom side Sheffield United, who have picked up their fourth win of the season in their last game with Aston Villa. Chris Wilder’s team have seen an improvement of form of late and against the team in the worst form in the Premier League, they will feel they have a chance of another three points. That said, I still feel the Saints are close to turning this around and I think that may well start here with them picking up a point on the road.

Aston Villa v Wolves – Home Win

A big midlands derby this weekend with two teams who have eyes on a top half finish, if not better. Both teams form of late has been a little erratic, with Villa’s more up and down than Wolves. Nuno Santos Wolves were beaten easily by Manchester City last time out but that was their first EPL defeat in five games. Villa’s form and performances this season have been so up and down that it beggars belief and they don’t draw many games. To me, this game has the look of a 1-0 win for one of the teams and at present, I just feel it is going to be Aston Villa that bounce back with a win here.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 7th March

Liverpool v Fulham – Away Win

Einstein once said that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing time and time again and expecting different results. That will ring true with Liverpool fans having watched their last six or so home performances. Every game the Reds have lined up the same way, with nearly the same team and each time they have been found out. There is no evidence Jurgen Klopp is going to change this and after losing to Chelsea in midweek, they now face a Fulham side that should have beaten them at Craven Cottage back in December. Fulham are huge odds to land a win here but I don’t think Scott Parker’s team will ever have a better chance of landing it, so I am going to back them here to land a massive three points.

Manchester City v Manchester United – Home Win

The biggest game of the weekend sees the top two clash at the Etihad and something has to give. Manchester City have won all their last 21 games, Manchester United are unbeaten away from home in over a year. This fixture has seen seven of the last ten games won by the away team but I think this game will buck that trend. United’s goals have dried up at the worst time and City, in contrast, are flying and scoring goals for fun. I am backing City to make it win number 22 here.
