World Cup Qualifier Acca Bet – Sat 27th & Sun 28th March

No luck last week with our FA Cup accumulator, but we did hit on half of the selections which is at least something. Plus we did land an acca the week before in the Champions League, so I can’t complain too much.

This week, we are turning our attentions to the World Cup Qualifiers taking place this weekend across Europe. Now, if you have been following my tips over the years, you will know that I am not the biggest fan of these weekends. They do interrupt the flow of the season for me and I am not sure watching any team put six past San Marino is a great use of anyone’s time or energy.

However, with a dearth of other games and the fact that there is excellent coverage of these games on TV and Satellite, I think they are a better option than setting an acca using lower league teams.

Anyway, this is the second of ten Matchdays scheduled throughout 2021 which will see almost the entire World Cup Qualification process take place. By the end of the last date in November, we will know the 10 Group Winners that will go on to the World Cup Finals in Qatar, as well as the 12 teams that will battle it out in the playoffs in March 2022 for the remaining three spots.

Wales and Northern Ireland are not playing a World Cup qualifier this week, but England, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland are in action, plus there are a couple of intriguing games to look at including Serbia v Portugal and Norway v Turkey.

Let’s now take a look at the games I have put together for moy fourfold accumulator this week.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 27th March

Norway v Turkey – Draw

Norway came through a relatively comfortable away trip to Gibraltar with a 3-0 victory. In truth, the Norwegians should have had several more goals in that game. Turkey though raised a few eye-brows with their superb 4-2 win over the Netherlands. Burak Yilmaz was the star of the show netting a superb hattrick to put the much-fancied Netherlands to the sword. This looks like being a very close run thing in Group G now and how teams perform on the road could play a key role in deciding the outcome of the group. Turkey are not the bet travellers and Norway’s form is good of late, but I do fancy the visitors to take a point from this game, probably by a 1-1 scoreline.

Serbia v Portugal – Away Win

Both these teams head into this pivotal game on the back of a win. Portugal made heavy work of their 1-0 home win over Azerbaijan, an own goal enough to hand the home side the win. Serbia were pushed hard by the Republic of Ireland before coming out on top with a 3-2 win, Aleksandar Mitrovic scoring twice in that game. Serbia will know that this game will likely determine their chances of topping this group and they need to avoid a defeat here. Portugal are a talented side but they are struggling a little for goals. Defensively though they are rock solid still and I think that will be the key here as I am backing the visitors to keep the Serbian strikers out and to sneak a goal on the counter attack to land a potentially decisive win in Group A.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 28th March

Albania v England – Away Win

Having opened up their campaign against San Marino, England will be hoping to pick up three more points away to Albania. There was a time when such a trip would have likely ended up in a very comfortable win for the Three Lions, but Albania are a much stronger side nowadays and this could be a tricky one for Gareth Southgate’s men. England have won all four of the games between the teams in the past and it is worth noting that ahead of their trip to Andorra on Thursday, Albania are unbeaten in their last five games, winning the last three. This won’t be as easy for England as some are making out but they should still land the victory.

Israel v Scotland – Draw

These teams are no strangers to each other having met five times since October 2018. Israel have won both the games they played in that time at home, drawing once in Scotland with Scotland winning the other two games, albeit one by a penalty shootout. So there’s no doubt that these two teams are familiar with each other and that does tend to mean that these games tend to be closer and tighter than matches between teams who haven’t played so frequently. These two opening games are crucial for both teams and I think avoiding defeat here could be the main focus for both sides and as such, I can see this one petering out into a 0-0 draw.
