Saturday’s Footie Acca – Sat 16th March

This weekend we have a mix of games to utilise for our Saturday accumulator Acca Tipsas we have a trio of matches in the Premier League, plus three of the four FA Cup Quarter Final ties taking place today. As such, we have a pretty decent selection of games from which to make our selections.

In the cup we have the two all-Premier League clashes between Watford and Crystal Palace and Wolves taking on Manchester United as part of the bet and then to that we have added a couple of 3pm kick offs in the Premier League, Burnley facing Leicester City and West Ham taking on the seemingly all-but relegated Huddersfield.

I have to admit to being rather surprised by the odds of this accumulator bet when I put it together and I did go back and double check that I hadn’t missed something blatantly obvious, such as Manchester United being forced to play with 6 men in this game, but I hadn’t. Regardless of the longer than usual odds, I think this bet has a great chance of landing.

Here’s hoping this little fourfold will bring a smile to your face on Saturday evening should to decide to back it.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 16th March

Watford v Crystal Palace – Draw

Watford have run out the victors the last two times these teams met in the Premier League this season, both games finishing in a 2-1 victory for the Hornets, but I feel this will be a very different game with a place at Wembley in the FA Cup Semi Finals up for grabs. For both these teams, it would be a huge achievement (although both did meet in the semifinal at Wembley back in 2016) and I think as a result, both will field strong teams. They have very similar FA Cup records this season and both are yet to concede a goal. Recent form also tends to suggest they are well-matched. I think Watford have teh edge when it comes to consistency but I feel Palace’s team has more potential match winners. I think this will be a close one and I can see this requiring extra time and maybe even penalties to decide the winner. Hence I am going for the draw on 90 minutes.

Burnley v Leicester City – Home Win

Brendan Rodgers has seen his Leicester City team win at home but as yet he has only tasted defeat on the road and he will be hoping his new team can put that right against a Burnley side that have now lost all of their last three games. Prior to that, the Clarets were in good form and looking strong but those losses have pushed Burnley to the brink of the relegation places with Cardiff and Southampton also very much involved. Sean Dyche will know his team must start to pick up points again and against a talented Leicester side, that would seem a tough ask. However, Leicester have blown hot and cold this season, and struggle at times against lower table sides and as such, I am backing Burnley to get back to winning ways here.

West Ham v Huddersfield – Home Win

I’d already written off Huddersfield’s hopes of staying in the Premier League a while back, so I am not hugely surprised to see them still struggling and with just three wins this season (two of those against Wolves).  In contrast, I think West Ham are starting to click together quite nicely into an effective unit and the fact that they are 9th in the table, I think they should be looking to move on from there and move towards that top seven towards the end of the season. I can’t make any convincing case for Huddersfield to get anything from this game I am afraid and I am expecting West Ham to come out convincing winners.

Wolves v Manchester United – Draw

The second of my two FA Cup ties in this Saturday’s acca selection and this is another game I am expecting to be very tight. Wolves have given the top six teams in the Premier League a torrid time this season and they have already earned a draw at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign. United though under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been much improved, although their unbeaten streak domestically came to an end away to Arsenal last week. Wolves away is another very tough test and while I can’t see United losing inside 90 minutes, i do feel that the home side’s spirit and skill will see them force the game into extra time. Once it goes there, anything is possible but I would expect United to prevail in the end.
