How Much Do Accumulator Odds Matter?

We know there’s a lot of info on this page about different promotions and offers to help you win more money when your accumulator bets win but what you’re probably wondering is how much the odds matter.

Well… a lot is the answer.

The better the odds you’re getting the bigger the payout you’ll receive and when it comes to acca bets it’s even more important to get good odds because the odds are compounded through each leg of the bet.

This is probably best explained with an example:

You backed a 5 team accumulator with bookmaker x and the odds are as follows; evens, evens, 3/1, 7/2 and 7/2.

  • £10 bet = total payout of £3,240

However at bookmaker y your odds would have been; evens, 2/1, 3/1, 7/2 and 7/2 (you’re getting a slightly better price on one of your even money shots).

  • £10 bet = total payout of £4,860

That’s a massive difference in winnings of £1,620 for what is effectively a very similar bet.

The compounding of the odds throughout the bet cause this massive difference in payout even when the odds are only slightly different, as shown above. What’s the answer? Shop, shop, shop around for the best possible odds and you’ll soon learn for yourself which are the best bookies for accumulator bets and which are the stingy ones.

The above example also shows how much more you can win when you take the time to find the best possible odds around. It might seem like a pain to do but it’s worth it, especially because accumulator winners are few and far between so when you do bink one you want to get the biggest payout possible.
