Top Promotions

After taking advantage of that welcome bonus, Skybet customers can also enjoy the company’s collection of other ongoing promotions which include:

‘Sky Bet Club’ – Customers can choose to opt in to the ‘Sky Bet Club’ which provides a £5 free bet each week as long as the customer spends at least £25 before midnight on Sunday, across all sports and on any market of odds of evens or greater.

Price Boosts – Sky Bet offer a selection of enhanced prices on a daily basis, which are spread across a variety of sports and available on many different markets.

Best Odds Guaranteed – Applicable to all horse racing in the UK and Ireland, Sky Bet will always pay out at a horse’s starting price if it is longer than the price at which a customer placed their bet.

Review of Features

In truth, Sky Bet are not all that promotions heavy but they do offer a good number of features to the customers and some of the best include:

  • Live In-Play Betting – Via a dedicated section which is embedded within the Sky Bet homepage, customers can access a wide range of in-play betting markets, across a good variety of events and sports. For each in-play event, Sky Bet also provide good live scoring information and often extra visuals such as action areas and key statistics.
  • ‘Sky Bet Tracker’ – Essentially Skybet’s enhanced version of cash out, the Sky Bet Tracker is available for a variety of football markets and provides access to live bet status information, real-time event statistics and the normal capability to cash out bets.
  • ‘Bet and Watch’ – There is also live streaming made available by Sky Bet, of all UK and Irish horse races. In order to watch a customer need only have bet a minimum of £1 on the race and the service is widely available via mobile devices as well as on desktop.

Review of Sky Bet Mobile

As you would fully expect from a multi-platform company such as Sky, their Skybet online sports betting service is made fully available for uses of all manner of mobile devices.

Users of iOS devices such as iPhones or iPads can choose between a downloadable version of the Sky Bet app or a mobile web browser based version, whilst users of other devices will find that web app to be entirely sufficient and to provide almost exactly the same service as the downloadable iOS alternative.

When they do access the app, users will find it to be really simple to understand and easy to use, with navigation between markets and bet placement made really quick and trouble-free. The fact that the ‘Bet and Watch’ facility for horse racing is also made available via mobile is another real plus and more than makes up for the slight underwhelming overall appearance of the app.

Popularity & Reputation

An online only company which was created in the early 2000s and is the betting wing of the BskyB corporation, Sky Bet has grown to become one of the largest online bookmakers and enjoys great popularity due to its links with the Sky Sports TV network.

The company is most intrinsically linked with football due to the aforementioned connection with Sky Sports and as such has a reputation for being largely tailored towards football punters. The association with Sky Sports also largely limits the company’s popularity to the UK, but within that home country Sky Bet has a near flawless reputation for fairness to customers and willingness to pay out.

Safety & Security

As a very well-known and highly reputable bookmaker, Sky Bet take their responsibility towards customer safety and security very seriously, and have a number of mechanisms both for protecting financial and personal data and for protecting players themselves.

When it comes to cyber security, Skybet use Verisign SSL technology to encrypt all data and have an automated log out facility which comes into play after 90 minutes of inactivity. In terms of player protection, the company also boast a number of self-help tools, including deposit limits and cooling off periods.

Customer Support

Customer support for Sky Bet users is varied and easily accessible, with the first port of call when a customer has any query being the help centre built into the website, which includes many answers to a variety of FAQs.

When it comes to contacting customer support directly, this can be done by live chat, email or telephone. Email responses are aimed to be provided within 24 hours but can take longer, live chat is available round the clock and the telephone helpline is open from 8am until 10 pm GMT.

Overall Sky Bet Review

One of the top online sports bookmakers in the UK, Sky Bet do indeed provide a good service to customers, especially if those customers favour football betting above other sports.

The range of events and markets provided is very good and the in-play section of the site provides quick and easy access to those markets. The in-play interface is also impressive, and provides good live scoring and other visuals along with the markets available for different events.

SkybBet’s welcome bonus may not practically be one of the largest in pure monetary terms but is certainly one of the most generous as you don’t need to make a deposit to get your hands on it.

The Sky Bet service is also made fully available to users of all manner of mobile devices, by way of a mobile app that is also user-friendly and easily navigable. All in all therefore, Sky Bet is an excellent choice for any casual punter looking for a reliable and easy to use bookmaker.

Overall rating: 7.85/10

What Could Be Improved?

No review of Sky Bet could be complete without looking at what could be better about the service on offer…

The Sky Bet service is certainly a good one but does not rate quite as highly as some competitors due to a number of small ways in which it could be definitively improved.

The range of promotions and offers provided by Skybet for instance, falls some way behind that of their main competitors both in terms of variety and generosity, and this is certainly something that could be enhanced.

Both the desktop site and the mobile app too, lack a little in terms of appearance and whilst the features for navigating both are excellent, the less attractive look does make them seem less appealing to use.

What is perhaps most notable however, is that ‘price boosts’ notwithstanding, Sky Bets actual prices are far from the most generous around and addressing this would go a long way to improving their service.
