Weekend Acca Tips – 21st & 22nd September

I got a little excited last weekend when my first two tips came in pretty much bang on the money, but then the third one let me down. Still, I am happy that I got not just the outcome but the manner of the result of those opening two games pretty much as they occurred.

With Arsenal drawing and Man City losing at Norwich, I don’t think any acca tips would have been racing home on Sunday, but I am confident that this selection from the games across this weekend on Saturday and Sunday in the EPL will pay dividends.

This will of course include a tip for Sunday’s big game at Stamford Bridge as Frank Lampard’s Chelsea look to earn another win against high-flying Liverpool, who as it stands are five points clear at the top of the table.

Here’s my tips for this weekend’s set of games.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 21st September

Leicester City v Tottenham  – Draw

The Premier League fixture list hasn’t been too kind to Leicester this season as they have faced a very difficult start, so to have amassed eight points from those games is a superb return for Brendan Rodgers team. Spurs bounced back to form winning 4-0 at home to Crystal Palace last weekend, but I feel that they are still very suspect on the road and a team like Leicester is well primed to take advantage of those defensive lapses that they seem extremely prone to. I can see the likes of Harry Kane and co grabbing a goal against the Foxes, but I can also see Leicester finding the net at the other end. If I had to pick a team to win, I would go for Leicester, but I think the most likely outcome here is that the game will finish in a draw.

Newcastle Utd v Brighton – Draw

Both of these teams were the fashionable picks to be battling relegation this season in the Premier League but both have had reasonable starts and there is no doubt both managers will feel this game is a winnable one. Steve Bruce needs to harness the fervent support at St James’ Park to get the best from his team at home as they do drop too many points in these types of games. Brighton look very wily under Graham Potter and I have been quietly impressed with them this season and I fancy them to make the long trip north and come away with something from the game. It just won’t be three points, but one as I fancy this one to be a score draw.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 22nd September

West Ham v Man Utd – Home Win

West Ham actually come into this game unbeaten in five games and with a better record than Manchester United over that same period. United did win at home to Leicester last weekend, while West Ham were being held at Villa, but it was another largely unconvincing performance by United and Leicester could easily have had a point. West Ham are usually difficult at home to get the better of and the Red Devils do not have the best of records at the Hammers. As such, I have a feeling that the bookies may be wrong here and I am going against them and backing a surprise West Ham win.

Chelsea v Liverpool – Away Win

These two teams have already met this season in the Super Cup, when after a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes and extra time, Liverpool landed the trophy on penalties. Chelsea looked very dangerous in this game and caused Liverpool plenty of problems but since then, the Reds have been much more solid. Chelsea come into this game on the back of a fantastic 5-2 win at Wolves, but Liverpool have won all five of their games this season and there is a steely determination in this Reds team that makes them extremely hard to beat. I do feel Chelsea will score, but they do concede a lot of goals and against a team like Liverpool that is a real worry on the counter. As such, I think the Reds will buck the trend of most recent performances at Stamford Bridge to record a huge win here.
