EPL Matchday 18 Acca Tip – 18th & 19th December

With one void game in midweek due to a postponement, we were just one Brighton goal away from another acca win from that selection of games. That’s very frustrating considering we were one goal away from another win in the Europa League the previous week.

Still at least it goes to show that my tips are pretty much on the money most of the time.

However, we now have something else to consider with our tips. With the new Omicron variant playing havoc across the UK, including seeing teams see players and staff coming down with the virus and having their games postponed, it does mean that I am not only picking the best options for the weekend, but also what games are likely to be played.

With that in mind, I’ve decided not to go with games involving Man Utd, Leicester City and Spurs as they seem to have been particularly badly hit with the virus over the last week and in the absence of any common sense from the Premier League authorities, such as by suspending games for a few weeks to allow clubs to isolate and get cases under control, we’re ploughing on regardless!

So in that case, it’s back to normal as we approach the final set of league games before Christmas and I have picked four games from the matches this weekend that I feel give us a good chance of landing a lovely win pre-Xmas.

That would be a nice way to start the festivities and I think this set of games gives us a decent chance to do that.

I won’t be posting my next set of tips. up until Boxing Day, so all that remains is for me to wish you a very merry, safe and enjoyable Christmas and let’s hope that this weekend acca bet comes in.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 18th December

Southampton v Brentford – Draw

Southampton earned a very good point away to Crystal Palace in the week and they were perhaps unlucky not to win that game. The Saints have become something of a draw specialist in recent times and they are facing a Brentford side who are well-rested after their game with Manchester United was called off in midweek. I have been so impressed with how Thomas Frank’s team play; they have been fearless at times and in truth, their record away from home is better than their record at home which makes this a tricky one for Saints. I can’t quite see Brentford having enough quality to win this game, but I do feel that they are good enough to get a point.

Watford v Crystal Palace – Away Win

I wasn’t sure whether to go with this game as I am not sure how bad the Covid cases are in the Watford camp, but I have decided to go with it as I think the game will probably go ahead and that it offers good value odds for my accumulator bet. I know Crystal Palace have been a little bit up and down in form this season but I do feel Patrick Vieira is starting to get the team moving in the right way and they are certainly proving hard to beat. Watford are anything but that and have really struggled at home in recent times and as such, I am confident that unless Covid steps in and gets the game cancelled, the Londoners will come away with the win here.

Leeds United v Arsenal – Away Win

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds are under real pressure after their 7-0 hammering by Manchester City in midweek. The Argentinean is much-loved at Elland Road, but their struggles this season have seen him under pressure to pick up some results and with some tough games on the horizon, including this one against Arsenal, the need for points is clear. The problem is that they are facing an Arsenal side that have generally been in good form of late and who have moved into contention with West Ham and Manchester United for that fourth spot in the Premier League. The Gunners landed a big win over West Ham in the week and I think another will come here.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 19th December

Wolves v Chelsea- Away Win

Wolves have pushed Liverpool and Manchester City very hard  in recent times, but lost both games to single goals and next up is Chelsea out of the top three. The home side may feel they stand a better chance here with Chelsea not in the best of form at the moment and conceding a fair few goals, however Wolves do not score that many and I think that is going to be their big issue here. Chelsea are too good a team to keep conceding two or three goals a game and I think they will tighten up here and secure a vital away win.
