Euro 2024 Qualifiers – 7th, 8th & 9th September

With the Premier League now on hiatus for a week or so, we turn our attentions this week to the Euro 2024 qualifiers that are taking place in two batches.

Our focus this week is on the first batch of games, which takes place from Thursday 7th to Saturday 9th September, which means that this post will be up slightly earlier than usual this week (and possibly also for all international weeks going forward).

While Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have toiled in their qualifying groups so far, England and Scotland have both done superbly well, winning all four of their games so far and giving themselves a very realistic chance of qualifying for the tournament next summer in Germany.

Most teams will play two games over the two sets of matches, but a few will play just one qualifier, with them playing a friendly game in the other spot oin the schedule. In fact, England take on Scotland on Tuesday next week to celebrate the first ever international game.

The Republic of Ireland face a tough task as they head to Paris to take on France in a game that is now a must-win game for them if they are to have any chance of qualifying from the group stages.

Northern Ireland are in a similar position as they make a tricky trip to Ljubliana to take on Slovenia, while Scotland will be looking to make it five wins from five as they head to Cyprus to take on the hosts.

England meanwhile will play Ukraine on Saturday, with the game taking place in Poland. A win for England here would put them in a massively advantageous position in the group.

Let’s take a look at our acca tips for this week.

Euro 2024 Qualifiers Bet Analysis: Thursday 7th September

Serbia v Hungary – Draw

Strange as it may seem, but both these teams are amongst the most in form of the teams competing in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, with both having won four and drawn one of their last five games. In fact, the two games between these two will likely play a big role in deciding who wins the group and who finishes second with the other teams in this group well off the standard being set by these two teams. The teams met in March last year, with Serbia winning narrowly 1-0 in Budapest, but with more on the line this time I think Hungary will be keen to continue their good form which has seen them only lose to Italy since that loss in Belgrade. As such, I think we will see both teams battle it out for a share of the spoils here.

Slovenia v Northern Ireland – Home Win

Northern Ireland have lost three games in this group by a 1-0 scoreline, two of those defeats coming at home and their only win was a 2-0 win over San Marino. Slovenia lie one place above Northern Ireland in the table but have four more points and with home advantage here, you would expect that the Slovenian side, which has some talented players like Jan Oblak and Benjamin Sesko, to land the win here.  Northern Ireland will keep themselves in this game and I can’t see them being blown away by their opponents but nor can I see them doing enough to score a goal, or enough goals to get something from this game.

Euro 2024 Qualifiers Bet Analysis: Friday 8th September

Cyprus v Scotland – Away Win

Having won all four of their opening games, including a crucial home win over Spain and away win over Norway, Scotland stand on the brink of having a superb chance of qualifying from this group. To do so, they probably need at least three more wins from their final four games, beginning here with the trip to Cyprus. Scotland beat the same opponents 3-0 at Hampden in the last set of games, so they won’t be too fazed by making the trip south to face off once again. Cyprus’ form over the last few months has been pretty poor and the team is sorely lacking confidence and I would be surprised if Scotland don’t record another important win here in the context of their group.

Euro 2024 Qualifiers Bet Analysis: Saturday 9th September

Ukraine v England – England Win

England know a win here against Ukraine, a team they have lost just once against in nine previous games, would put them in a very strong position to win this group, even if Italy will still have games in hand on them. Gareth Southgate’s team have not had too much problem in qualifying for World Cups and European Championships and I’d expect that kind of form to continue here. Jude Bellingham must surely start for England given his performances at Real Madrid, and if he does then I can see the Three Lions earning a solid win in Poland.
