Euro 2024 Qualifiers – Matchday 7 Tips – 12th to 14th October

With no Premier League action to look forward to this week, we turn our attention once again to the games taking place in the Euro 2024 Qualifiers.

As per usual, we have two dates, Matchday 7 which runs from the 12th to 14th October and then we have Matchday 8 which runs from the 15th to the 17th of October.

A number of teams are very close to qualifying for Germany next summer and taking one of the 23 qualifying spots available next to the hosts.

Scotland, France and Portugal are amongst those who could wrap up qualification in this international break, more teams could do so too if other results in their group go a certain way.

For this set of tips, we are going to focus solely on Matchday 7, which gets underway on Thursday, hence these tips being published a couple of days earlier than usual.

England and Wales are not involved in the games in the qualifiers on Matchday 7. Both have friendlies, with Wales hosting Gibraltar on Wednesday night, while England host Australia on Friday evening at Wembley.

However, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are and a couple of those teams may well feature in our set of tips outlined below.

Euro 2024 Bet Analysis: Thursday 12th October

Spain v Scotland – Home Win

It was Scotland’s fantastic opening game win over Spain which laid the foundation for the Scots to take control of Group A and they now just need one more point from their final three games to ensure they qualify for the finals tournament. They could get it here against Spain, but that seems unlikely to me given how Spain have smashed 13 goals past their last two opponents in the group. Admittedly that was Georgia and Cyprus, but I feel at home and with that defeat in Glasgow very much at the forefront of their minds, Spain will want to put the record right here. Scotland have not managed a win in Spain since the 1960s and in truth, as well as Steve Clarke’s men have performed in the group, this looks like being a stretch too far for them. As such, I think Spain land a home win here, but both teams here will go through from this group I am sure.

Euro 2024 Bet Analysis: Friday 13th October

Netherlands v France – Away Win

The first of two Group B games on Friday sees two of the biggest names in European Football clash in Amsterdam. The Netherlands know that after a 4-0 defeat away to France on the opening night of fixtures in this group, only a win will suffice. France are a perfect 5 wins from 5 games and another here would ensure they qualify if Greece lose in Ireland on the same night. The Dutch’s form over recent times has been up and down, but the games they have played recently against the top teams, has seen them come off second best most of the time. As such, I can see the French hitting the Dutch hard on the counter attack here and if they do, I feel that they will win this game.

Republic of Ireland v Greece – Home Win

Both these teams have fallen on harder times in recent years and both are very much looking to rebuild for the future. I feel Greece are further along this process than the Republic of Ireland at the moment. The Greeks lie third in Group B, level on points with the Netherlands but well behind France who lead the group comfortably. Ireland have picked up just three points from a win over Gibraltar, but this should be a winnable game for them. Aviva Park will be very loud in their support of this young Irish team and I think that the team will respond to that. A win would also keep Ireland’s slim hopes of qualifying alive in the group so with that in mind I am backing the home side to land a narrow victory here.

Euro 2024 Bet Analysis: Saturday 14th October

Hungary v Serbia – Draw

Last month these two teams met in Belgrade and it was Hungary who added to their list of impressive recent wins over big teams with a 2-1 victory. The teams have only met four times previously, but on three of those occasions the away team has landed the win, with the other occasion being a draw.  Hungary are for me the most improved team in Europe over the last 18 months but Serbia have also improved and I think that this is not a foregone conclusion. A look at the result last month suggests a home win here for Hungary but I think Serbia have more than enough quality to cause the home side a few problems. Playing away may also suit their style of play which is why I am going to go for a hard-fought draw between the two teams here.
