Europa League Acca Matchday 6 – November 3rd

It’s the final set of Europa League Group Stage games this season and our final Europa League set of fixtures for this year, but fear not, I’ve put together what I think is a great value accumulator to finish things off.

The good news for British fans is that both Manchester United and Arsenal are through to the next phase, but both need to get a result this week in order to top the group and avoid a playoff game against a Champions League 3rd place team and to go straight into the hat for the Round of 16 matches.

For plenty of other teams, there’s still plenty to play for and we have focused on some of these games including the crucial clash in the Netherlands where Feyenoord and Lazio meet for a crucial game which could see every team in the group finish with 8 points (if Midtjylland beat Sturm Graz). Who goes through in that situation I have absolutely no idea.

Roma are another team needing to beat their opponent in Ludogorets Razgrad in order to progress to the next phase of the competition while there are other games which will see teams either qualify or stumble out of this competition and either into the Conference League playoffs, or out of Europe altogether.

I’ve gone through the schedule for Thursday night’s games and here are the matches I am backing for my Thursday night acca this week.

Bet Analysis: Thursday 3rd November

Feyenoord v Lazio – Draw

Group F in the Europa League could see all four teams finish on eight points this week if both home teams win their games. That would mean that the two teams in the bottom two positions would qualify on goal difference. Hence, Lazio know that they have to win or draw this game in order to progress. The Italian side have started the season well domestically but their form in Europe has been lukewarm to say the least. However, you can also argue that for Feyenoord too in what has been a strange group with some unusual results. I do feel though that Lazio have enough quality and experience to get the job done here. I can’t see them winning the game, but they are more than good enough to pick up a point.

Real Sociedad v Manchester United – Draw

It is going to be interesting to see how both these teams approach this game. A draw or better for Sociedad will see them win the group and if Manchester United were to win 1-0, Sociedad would still top the group on goal difference. However if United were to win by two goals, they would leapfrog the Spaniards and go top of the table. However, with both sides pushing hard in their domestic league and with games coming thick and fast, will both managers play their strongest teams here? I am not sure, United have tended to swap players in for these Europe League games and I think they will do that again here but if they do, I can’t see them having enough to land the win they need. As such, I think a draw is a sensible option here given the lack of urgency for either team to pick up a result.

Arsenal v FC Zurich – Home Win

Arsenal are already through to the next round of this competition but a defeat to PSV Eindhoven last week means that they are not assured of top spot in the group. The Gunners will clinch that with a win here against an FC Zurich side that are much inferior to their opponents and who have already lost at home to Arsenal. The Gunners will rest players for this game but despite that, they have some top quality players to come in and fill the gaps and they will all have a point to prove in the game. As such, I am backing Arsenal to land a comfortable win here.

Union Saint-Gilloise v Union Berlin – Draw

These two teams have emerged from the lower reaches of their domestic leagues to qualify for Europe last season and now both have qualified for the next stages of the Europa League. There is not much up for grabs here and both of these teams have other situations that they will now be focusing on before the break for the World Cup Finals, as such I am expecting both teams to probably swap out some regulars for this game and with not so much on the line, I think a draw is certainly well worth considering for a bet here.
