Europa League Accumulator – Thu 26th November

There’s a busy night of Europa League action to enjoy once again this week as the Group Stage in that tournament resumes with teams at the halfway point in proceedings. It’s been a pretty good campaign for most of the British and Irish sides involved, although a couple have struggled to pick up results, notably Celtic and Dundalk.

However, the other teams have all enjoyed strong starts with Arsenal, Rangers, Leicester and Tottenham all currently top of their respective groups, with Arsenal and Leicester boasting 100% records so far.

This week then gives these teams a chance to secure a place in the Round of 32 in the New Year, while for other teams like Rangers and Spurs, it means they can improve their grip on the group and perhaps clinch qualification in the fifth round. of group stage fixtures next week.

However, there are some tough fixtures for those teams to navigate this week and the good news is that there are some excellent value odds available on the games, which means that the accumulator I have put together below offers us great value odds on the bet.

Big games on the night include Milan facing Lille in France just a couple of weeks after a shocking 3-0 loss to the French side at the San Siro. Rangers renew their rivalry with Benfica after a draw in Lisbon, Leicester also face Portuguese opponents in Braga, who defeated Benfica on the road this past weekend, while Spurs have a very winnable home game against Ludogorets. Celtic face a tough trip to Prague to take on Sparta though after losing at home 4-1 to the Czech side.

Let’s now take a look at which four games I have put together for this week’s Europa League accumulator.

Bet Analysis: Thursday 26th November

Braga v Leicester City – Home Win

Don’t be fooled into thinking Braga will be a pushover for Leicester following their 3-0 defeat at the King Power in the first leg. That result was very much an out of character one for the Portuguese side who proved their quality at the weekend when they defeated Benfica away from home by a 3-2 scoreline. I was very surprised by how easily Leicester won their home game against Braga but I think on the road, as many other teams have discovered, it can be a hard place to go and get a result. The pressure is off Leicester a little here but Braga do need to pick up some kind of result. I almost went for the draw here but the way the Foxes played at Anfield at the weekend means that I feel they could suffer another narrow defeat here.

Lille v AC Milan – Home Win

The biggest surprise result of the last round was Lille’s 3-0 win over an AC Milan side that are currently top of Serie A. It wasn’t so much that Lille won the game, but a 3-0 scoreline suggests that the put Milan to the sword a little. I don’t expect the Italians to be quite as easy to beat in the return game this week and I do think it may just be one goal that eventually separates the teams, but with home advantage I think I would be crazy to turn down the odds on a Lille win here which would put them well in control of Group H ahead of Milan, Sparta Prague and Celtic.

Sparta Prague v Celtic – Home Win

Celtic’s only point in this competition has come on the road away to Lille, but after losing 4-1 at home to Sparta Prague last time out, I don’t feel that Neil Lennon’s team have shown anywhere near the form needed to suggest they can upset the form book here. With just one win in their last five games in all competitions, Celtic are struggling and the way Sparta put them to the sword in Glasgow was worryingly easy. Celtic may be able to try and hit on the counter here and may grab a goal this way but I think Sparta will run out easy winners on the night.

Rangers v Benfica – Home Win

I have been so impressed with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers this season, not only are they 11 points clear of Celtic in the Scottish Premier League, but they top a tough Group D ahead of Benfica and can take control of the group with a win here. While Rangers form of late has been superb, the same can’t be said for Benfica who have not won any of their last three games and the Lisbon side were beaten 3-2 at home by Braga domestically at the weekend. Rangers were the better of the two teams when they met in Lisbon and my money is on them putting in a similar performance here and if they can do that at home, I feel they can win this game.
