FA Cup Semi Finals & Premier League Acca – 22nd & 23rd April

Well last week’s set of tips in the Champions League was a strange one. I was delighted when my first two tips came in with Real beating Chelsea and then Napoli securing a late draw against AC Milan and I was confident heading into the Wednesday games that I had a great chance of success.

What I didn’t count on was for Bayern Munich to be so profligate in front of goal against Manchester City and to throw in the towel effectively once City grabbed the lead midway through the second half, and then to compound matters, Inter threw away a 3-1 lead at home late on to draw with Benfica.

So I guess, that was just not meant to be.

This weekend’s set of tips is a mix of two from the eight Premier League games taking place this weekend, while the other two come from the two FA Cup Semi Final ties that are being played at Wembley, one on Saturday and the other on the Sunday.

In the Premier League all teams bar the FA Cup Semifinalists (Brighton, Manchester City and Manchester United) and Chelsea are in action in the eight games, which starts with a rare Friday night game as the top of the table Arsenal host bottom of the table Southampton in a game that both teams simply must win if they are to achieve their aims this season.

Arsenal have seen City close the gap to just four points, with the Citizens having a game in hand, plus the opportunity to beat Arsenal at the Etihad in what looks like a Premier League decider next Wednesday. Two successive 2-2 away draws, after leading 2-0, doing the damage.

Let’s now take a look at my tips for my two EPL games and two FA Cup Semi Final ties this weekend.

EPL Bet Analysis: Saturday 22nd April

Fulham v Leeds United – Home Win

Fulham got back to winning ways last weekend with a big win away at Everton which not only kept the Toffees on the edge of the relegation zone, but also saw Fulham end a run of four successive defeats. They now face a Leeds side who have lost their last two home games 1-5 to Crystal Palace and then 1-6 to Liverpool last Monday night. Certainly Javi Gracia’s team have hit an awful run of form at the worst possible time and they are not going to be too confident of getting a result at Craven Cottage where Fulham have been pretty solid in the main this season. The bookies are not overly confident of a Fulham win, but they are a team that tend to pick up points in clusters and I can see them backing up that win last week with another here.

Brentford v Aston Villa – Away Win

Brentford’s home form has been pretty solid this season with some big wins racked up against the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool. They have also beaten Manchester City on the road, so they are by no means a pushover, so I’d need a good reason to back against them here. Well, I’ve found two in that they have not won in their last four games and they are facing an Aston Villa side that have won all their last five and who gave Newcastle their biggest beating of the season when defeating them 3-0 at Villa Park last week. Villa are flying at the moment and I think Unai Emery’s team could be very close to claiming an unexpected spot in Europe next season, especially if they can land a win here.

FA Cup Semi Final Bet Analysis: Saturday 22nd April

Manchester City v Sheffield United – Man City Win

Manchester City come into this game having secured a Champions League semi final spot as well as cutting the lead Arsenal have in the Premier League down to four points, with a game in hand. The treble therefore, is very much on and it is hard to see City not reaching the final. Even if Pep Guardiola rests key men for this game, City’s side will still be packed with outstanding talent. Sheffield United have done well to get this far in the tournament but this will be as far as they go, even if they have never lost to Man City as yet. They will have by the end of Saturday night however.

FA Cup Semi Final Bet Analysis: Sunday 23rd April

Brighton & Hove Albion v Manchester United – Draw at 90 minutes

Sunday’s semi final is a much more evenly matched one than Saturday’s game and I think we may well require extra time and perhaps even penalties to decide the winner. Brighton have won. both the last two against Manchester United but before that United had won the previous seven. Draws are rarities between these two teams, the last occurred back in 1981 but I think with so much at stake and this being Man Utd’s best chance of a trophy, both teams will battle it out to a draw at the 90 minute mark with one of them prevailing in extra time or on penalties.
