Midweek EPL Acca – Matchday 15 – 5th, 6th, 7th December 2023.

The Premier League is back in double-quick time as we have a full set of midweek fixtures to enjoy from Tuesday through to Thursday. Better still, in amongst those games are a number of high-profile match ups between teams battling it out in the top half and even in the top four.

Last weekend’s tips didn’t come in but it was one of those weekends where pretty much everything went against us. I had the Newcastle win over Manchester United, but went both teams to score. I had Chelsea and Brighton as a high-scoring 2-2 (it finished 3-2) and lastly I had Man City to win 3-1 and at one point, that looked nailed on, until City seemed to forget how to play football in the second half.

But that’s the way it goes with making these bets. Sometimes the fortunes smile on you, other times they do not and last weekend was a prime example of that.

So this week, I am hoping with a full set of games from Tuesday to Thursday and then another full set of games on the weekend, I can land some profit once again.

Big games in this first set of matches include an interesting one at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday where Luton welcome Arsenal in te later kick off with Wolves taking on Burnley in the earlier game.

Wednesday night sees the bulk of the action and there are two outstanding matches to look at. Aston Villa take on Man City with City having drawn all their last three Premier League games (including the last two at home) while Villa’s home for this season has been outstanding under Unai Emery.

On the same night, we have Manchester United back in action, this time taking on a Chelsea team, who like United are looking to get back to some semblance of the form that has had them both as perennial title challengers for many years before their recent slump.

Thursday night sees two big games too as Everton host Newcastle in a game both sides will feel they need to win, while we finish with a London derby as Spurs take on West Ham in what should be an intriguing game at te Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium.

Let’s take a look at my picks for this week.

EPL Bet Analysis: Tuesday 5th December

Luton Town v Arsenal – Away Win

Last weekend, Arsenal were outstanding in the first 45 minutes against Wolves, but in the second half Wolves came back into it and made life uncomfortable for the Gunners, who still held on to the win. Luton travelled south to take on Brentford but were put to the sword by the efficient Bees, losing 3-1 and with Everton’s win at Nottingham Forest, this means that the Hatters are now just two points clear of Everton and Burnley in 17th place in the table. There is little doubt Arsenal should win this, but so should Liverpool a few weeks back and they didn’t. I can’t see Arsenal making the same mistakes here though and as such, I think they are an easy pick for an away win here to keep them top of the table.

EPL Bet Analysis: Wednesday 6th November

Crystal Palace v Bournemouth – Draw

Crystal Palace ended a run of two successive defeats by securing a point at the weekend against West Ham in what was an even game between the two London teams. Palace’s lack of goals is their main problem, only Luton and Sheffield United have scored fewer in the Premier League this season but defensively only five teams have conceded fewer than their 19 goals. Bournemouth’s fine run of recent form, three wins and a draw in the last five, has seen them move away from the drop zone and means that I fancy them to get something from this game. Javier Iraola’s tactics seem to have finally clicked with the Cherries who I am backing to come away from this game with a score draw.

Manchester United v Chelsea – Home Win

All of Manchester United’s eight wins in the Premier League have come against teams in the bottom half of the table and they have lost every one of their games against teams in the top half. That does show you where United are at present and that must be a huge concern for Erik Ten Hag ahead of this game with a Chelsea side that have also had their problems. There have been 23 goals scored in Chelsea’s last four Premier League games 12 for Chelsea, 11 for their opponents which suggests goals should not be a problem here but at home I think Manchester United, after the performance against Newcastle, need to have a reaction. If they do, they should win this.

EPL Bet Analysis: Thursday 7th November

Everton v Newcastle United – Away Win

The Toffees earned a massive three points with an away win at Nottingham Forest at the weekend which means that even with a 10-point deduction, which Everton have appealed, the Toffees are just two points from safety. They’d love to get that here against Newcastle but I am not sure they will. Eddie Howe’s team have been in sensational form over the last fortnight or so, despite a lengthy injury list, and I think that the run of good performances will continue here with a win at Goodison Park.
