Midweek UEFA Semi Finals 2nd Leg Acca – 16th – 18th May

Well frustratingly, I got four out of four results right last week, but I had the two Champions League games results the wrong way round!

To be fair though, while I felt City could have won in Madrid, there was no realistic chance of Milan salvaging a draw from their game with Inter once they went 2-0 down in the first 15 minutes or so of the game.

Still, at least my two picks in the Europa League and the Europa Conference League did come in, including the long odds draw for Sevilla against Juventus (I’d been telling everyone to get on that for most of last week), as well as West Ham’s good comeback win over AZ Alkmaar at the London Stadium.

This week, we’re back with the second leg of those six ties across Europe from Tuesday to Thursday and once again, I have gone through those games and tried to select the four which I think not only offer the most interest in betting terms, but also some decent value odds on the selection I make too.

We are delicately poised in almost all the semi-finals with teams either level or losing by just a single goal, Inter are the only team in a better position after their 2-o win over AC Milan.

Anyway, let’s crack on with this set of tips in the hope we can land that elusive acca win this week!

Champions League Bet Analysis: Tuesday 16th May

Inter Milan (2) v (0) AC Milan – Home Win

Inter Milan produced a fantastic performance early on against AC Milan to take a 2-0 lead in their ‘away’ leg in this tie, both of which will be played at the San Siro of course. AC Milan huffed and puffed in the second half of the first leg but I never felt Inter were in any trouble of losing the game. Raphael Leao’s absence for Milan was massive and while he should be fit for the second leg, whether he alone can turn Milan into a team capable of winning 3-0 I’m not so sure. Inter have won four of the last five between these two teams and I think they will add another win to that come the end of action on Tuesday night.

Champions League Bet Analysis: Wednesday 17th May

Manchester City (1) v (1) Real Madrid – Home Win

Two world class strikes from Vinicius Jr and Kevin de Bruyne ensured that these two teams earned a draw in the first leg at the Bernebeu, meaning that this tie is very delicately poised as we enter the second leg. If you remember the home leg of the semi final last year, City went 2-0 up very early and were 3-1 up in the second half but the game ended 4-3. I think Pep Guardiola will want a more controlled performance here and if they can do that and Haaland can get a bit more freedom than he was allowed in the first leg, then I think Manchester City will be heading to their second Champions League Final in the club’s history.

Europa League Bet Analysis: Thursday 18th May

Sevilla (1) v (1) Juventus – Draw

I successfully tipped this game as a draw last week, although I had to rely on a 97th minute equaliser to get that positive result for me, but I think we may well see a repeat of that kind of game, at least over the opening 90 minutes in Spain too. Sevilla are exceptional in this tournament, the most successful team in its history with a catalogue of wins over supposedly bigger sides. However, Juventus could be a problem as the Italian side has very much been better away from home in this competition, than they have at home and they have the players to cause Sevilla problems. I do feel we will get a draw here at 90 minutes but then I think Sevilla will go on to claim the win in extra time.

Europa Conference League Bet Analysis: Thursday 4th May

FC Basel (2) v (1) Fiorentina – Away Win

I was somewhat surprised that Fiorentina let this game slip away from them after taking an early lead. The Swiss side’s winner came late on in the game in the away leg and it looks like they are now strong favourites to go through, only if you check the odds, Fiorentina are odds on to win the away leg. Why is that? Well FC Basel have not won at home since the 1st April, and Fiorentina’s best recent form, especially in this competition, has come on the road where they have often turned things around after poor home wins, or landed a big enough lead to allow them not to worry about a poor home result in the second leg. I can see that happening here and so I am backing Fiorentina to win the game, but as to who goes through, I am still very much on the fence here.
