Midweek Xmas EPL Acca! – 28th, 29th & 30th December

Merry Christmas everybody!

Well, I don’t think I can really call the last acca bet a win, seeing as two of my selections for Boxing Day were removed from the bet, but the fact that the other two games were played, and both came in, meant that I actually earned a small but welcome profit over the weekend!

It wasn’t a big win, but it was a win and I’ll take that every day of the week!

Admittedly, I am not going to be heading off to Monte Carlo to enjoy the lifestyle of the Rich and Famous just yet, but any profit is always welcome to add to that which we have won from successful acca bets earlier in the season.

With two games from the forthcoming midweek set of Premier League games for Matchday 20 already postponed, I am going to try and pick games that I think have most chance of being played. That is somewhat difficult (I tried at the weekend and two games were still called off) but with how things are at the moment it is the best I can do.

This week we have eight games still scheduled to take place at the moment including an intriguing game at the King Power where Leicester City take on Liverpool and on Wednesday night we have Manchester City and Chelsea in action against Brentford and Brighton respectively.

The league table is a bit odd at the moment with so many teams having played between 15 and 19 games so far, so everything is a bit wonky and lopsided, but hopefully we can get back to some semblance of normality over the first few months of the year.

Here’s my tips for this set of midweek Xmas tips.

Bet Analysis: Tuesday 28th December

Southampton v Tottenham – Away Win

These two teams have a long record of games where both teams will score but it is a somewhat unbalanced record with Tottenham having won by far the majority of the most recent games between the two, winning nine of the last 13 games, with Southampton winning just the two. However, both those most recent wins have come at home but I think Southampton will struggle here. That great win against West Ham will have boosted confidence for this game but Spurs have won four of their last five and Antonio Conte does seem to have started to get the best out of his key men and as such, I am backing the visitors to pick up the win here to keep them in touch with the top four.

Watford v West Ham United – Away Win

West Ham have hit a horrible patch of form of late, losing four of their last five EPL games and drawing the other. They have dropped from third in the table to fifth and the teams below them can now catch them and go above them. However, I refuse to believe the team that can beat Liverpool and Chelsea have suddenly forgotten how to win games. Injuries have hit the Hammers hard but I think Watford are a team that they will have joy against as that Watford defence looks very poor. As such, this is a game that West Ham should be looking to win to get back on track and I think they will.

Bet Analysis: Wednesday 29th December

Chelsea v Brighton – Home Win

Chelsea were comfortable winners away to Aston Villa on Boxing Day, a much-needed win which drew them level on points with Liverpool, whose game with Leeds United was postponed on the same day. Brighton also landed the win with a 2-0 victory over Brentford, ending an 11-game streak without a win and pushing them back into the top half of the table. However, going to Stamford Bridge and getting a win is one of the most difficult tasks in the Premier League and even though Brighton have drawn at Anfield this season, I can’t see them quite having enough to stop Chelsea getting the win here.

Bet Analysis: Thursday 30th December

Everton v Newcastle – Home Win

Can Rafa Benitez steer Everton to a win over his former club? Benitez was well loved on Tyneside during his time there but there won’t be any sentiment here. Everton badly need to pick up some more positive results after two losses in their last two games has seen them drop into the dangerously lower reaches of the table. Newcastle of course need a win for their own reasons to try and avoid the drop and Eddie Howe knows his team need to start picking up something from trips away from home. I can’t see many goals being scored in this game but those that do go in, I feel the majority will go Everton’s way.
