Nations League Midweek Acca: Tue 17th & Wed 18th November

We were so close on the weekend’s Acca bet, three of the four results came in almost exactly as I predicted, but the only one to let us down was the Portugal v France game, which we had tipped as a draw and had Rui Patricio managed to hold on to a tame Adrien Rabiot shot, I am pretty sure that game would have finished that way.

So it is frustrating that an individual slip not only saw Portugal lose and be eliminated from the Nations League, but also means that we didn’t quite land out very decent priced accumulator bet. We’ve been close on these Nations League games a couple of times now over the last couple of months so I am hopeful that we can perhaps strike a bit more luck with this week’s set of tips.

This set of games is the final set of Nations League clashes for the current competition and after this, we will know which teams will join France in the semifinals of the tournament in the autumn of 2021. All other groups in Group A still have plenty to play for, although England are now ruled out of contention.

Key games this week include Belgium facing Denmark in Brussels, Poland v Netherland and Bosnia Herzegovina v Italy from Group A1 plus the huge game on Tuesday which sees Germany take on Spain with Germany needing just a point to qualify from the group, while Spain need a win. We will be focusing on these games moreso this week as they are more likely to have more consistent team selections to help in predicting the results.

Here are my tips for this final set of midweek Nations League games.

Bet Analysis: Tuesday 17th November

Spain v Germany – Draw

This game has now become the pivotal one in Group A4. A Spain victory will put them into the Nations League semifinals. Should Germany draw or win the game, they will progress into the semifinals instead. With the Ukraine and Switzerland battling it out to avoid relegation to Group B, this is the group with most at stake. Spain’s recent record isn’t great with just one win in their last five, while Germany’s record is much better than that with three wins in their last four games. The teams fought out a hard fought draw in Germany and I think that is the most likely result once again here even with the Spanish having home advantage and especially if they keep letting Sergio Ramos take their penalties!

Bet Analysis: Wednesday 18th November

Belgium v Denmark – Home Win

Both these teams have beaten England in the Three Lions past two games in this competition and that means that this game in Brussels on Wednesday will now decide the group. A last gasp penalty against Iceland gave Denmark the win they needed to keep the pressure up on the Belgians but Roberto Martinez’s men still only need a draw or better to ensure they reach the semifinals of the tournament. Denmark’s win at Wembley will give them hope of doing likewise here but the clinical way the Belgians despatched a plucky England at the weekend means I can’t do anything other than back them to land the win here too.

Poland v Netherlands – Draw

This is a tough game for a Netherlands team who will be without Virgil van Dijk in defence and who will need at least a win to stand any chance of reaching the Nations League semifinals once again. A point behind Italy heading into this game their head to head record against Italy is poorer, which means they must win this game. Poland though have Robert Lewandowski available and his form gives them a real threat in attack. This will be a close one and I do feel both sides will find the net but once again, I think the most likely outcome will be a draw.

Wales v Finland – Home Win

Having won in Finland in the opening round of fixtures in this competition, Wales head into the home game between the two knowing that a draw or better would be enough for them to take top spot in the group and earn promotion to Group A. This Finnish side though is very strong and a much better side than previous Finn teams of the past and they have made a real challenge in this group, despite that loss to the Welsh in their opening game. Even so, with Gareth Bale back in the team, I just feel the Welsh will have a little too much quality in this one and should claim the win.
