Premier League Acca Tip – 2nd & 3rd April

We couldn”t repeat the success of a couple of weeks ago last weekend, but in truth with a bunch of international friendlies to work with, and managers electing to use these games to prepare their squads, rather than to play their first teams, it was always unlikely that things would pan out.

However, I am glad to say that last weekend was the final international break of the year and we now have a clear run right the way through from now until the end of the season, which will incorporate both the Premier League and Champions League competitions coming to their finale.

And what a few weeks we have in store as Liverpool and Manchester City are set to go head to head one weekend after another, firstly in the Premier League and then at Wembley in the FA Cup Semi Final. Bracketed around that Premier League tie, both teams will also play their Champions League quarter final 1st and 2nd leg ties.

It promises to be an epic few weeks, and a period of time which will have a significant impact on both sides chances of landing success domestically and in Europe.

However, there’s lots of other action to account for too in the Premier League, Europe and FA Cup and we start that run in this weekend with a full set of Premier League games from Saturday through to Monday.

As per usual, I have gone through the games and come up with the following fourfold accumulator for this weekend and this week, things have seemed to favour the home teams in the games I’ve backed.

Let’s hope we can land another good winner as we did a couple of weeks back!

Bet Analysis: Saturday 2nd April

Leeds v Southampton – Home Win

These teams have seen something of a reverse in fortune in recent weeks. Leeds have gone from being beaten continually to winning their last two games, the last a superb 3-2 win over Wolves at Molineux when they came back from 2-0 down to claim the win. Southampton were on a good run of form but have since lost their last four and as such, confidence seems to be at a lower ebb for Ralph Hasenhuttl team. The Saints are a team that can, and likely will, turn that run around at some point soon, they are capable of getting a good result against any team, but I think at home and with the confidence of two wins behind them, Leeds will do enough to claim the win here.

Wolves v Aston Villa – Home Win

A midlands derby game and one that pits the two best teams in the Midlands together this season. Wolves have done well under Bruno Lage after a slow start and they have moved onto the fringes of the battle for the European places next season. Their success is built on a very tight defense, which is one of the best in the Premier League and keeping games tight. Villa have made some major moves in the transfer market since Steven Gerrard took over and the likes of Coutinho and Digne have really added quality to the squad and that will make this close but I just feel at home, Wolves will have the slight upper hand here and eke out another narrow win.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 3rd April

West Ham v Everton – Home Win

Recent games between these two teams have seen the away team win by a 1-0 scoreline on each of the last three occasions they have met, but I think that sequence may well come to an abrupt halt here. West Ham have been excellent throughout this season and also at the end of last. They are still going in the Europa League having knocked out Sevilla, and lie just off the pace in the race for fourth. Everton are in a real battle against relegation and I am not convinced that their win over Newcastle of late signalled better times. I think West Ham win this one and will likely do so relatively comfortably.

Tottenham v Newcastle United – Home Win

It’s been a strange old season for both these teams in many ways. Spurs have flattered to deceive on many occasions, but have still put together some outstanding results, such as their 3-2 win over Manchester City a few weeks back. Newcastle looked dead and buried until their takeover and Eddie Howe came in and after a few signings in the transfer window, much improved form saw them move away from the drop zone, although they have now lost their last two games. This is a tricky one to call but I think Spurs just about have the edge here and will claim the win to keep them on Arsenal’s heels.
