Premier League Acca Tip – Matchday 1 – 12th & 13th August

I’m writing this before I know the results of last week’s Community Shield and Football League season opener acca. Hopefully we’ve kicked off the season with a win!

Regardless of that we are back this week with the first game of the new Premier League season! And what a season it promises to be!

Gone are Southampton, Leicester City and Leeds United, replaced by Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town. The latter in their first ever Premier League season and featuring a player who has won promotion with the club since the time they were in the National League.

Manchester City will be seeking to become the first club to win four Premier League titles in a row, while Arsenal will be hoping that their big summer signings can help them close the gap.

Alongside the top two from last season the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Brighton, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Chelsea will be hoping for a strong showing this season too.

For the newly promoted trio, it may well be another tricky battle against relegation, while there are plenty of other Premier League teams that will also have their concerns about that.

For me, I want another solid season of acca wins and to get more back from the bookies than I pay them on losing stakes!

To that end, here’s my first set of Premier League tips for the forthcoming season!

Premier League Bet Analysis: Saturday 12th August

Brighton v Luton Town – Home Win

After a superb season last time around, both these teams will be hoping to kick start their new campaign with a win. Brighton may have lost Alexis Mac Allister this summer, but so far they have held onto Moses Caicedo and they have brought in some quality players too. Luton have done superbly well to even get to the Premier League and with their first few games of the season set to be on the road, it could well be a tough start for the Hatters. It certainly won’t be an easy game at the AMEX where Brighton proved to be tough competitors for even the best teams in the EPL last season and as such, I do expect the home side to kick off the season with a relatively comfortable win.

Everton v Fulham – Away Win

Both these teams have not been hugely active in the transfer market this season so far and as such, it is hard to see how Sean Dyche and Marco Silva could have made serious improvements to their team. Of the two, it was Fulham who were in much the better shape last season but their stance over Aleksandar Mitrovic’s potential move to Saudi Arabia has alienated their talismanic striker. Everton have let a lot of players go on free transfers over the summer and with the club up for sale, there has not been a great deal for Sean Dyche to spend on recruitment. As such, this could be a very tricky opener for the Toffees against one of the better counter-attacking sides in the Premier League and as such, I am going for a Fulham win here.

Newcastle United v Aston Villa – Home Win

Newcastle United have spent wisely this summer and while Allan Saint-Maximin has left the club, Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes are very good purchases. Furthermore, the Toon Army have held onto their prized assets in Bruno Guimaraes and Alex Isak, meaning that Eddie Howe’s team look well set for the season. Villa boss Unai Emery has spent bug on Pau Torres and Moussa Diaby, while Youri Tielemans joins on a free and it is going to be interesting to see if Villa can progress on from their 7th place finish last season. This is a tough start for both teams and I think this may well be the best game on Saturday in the EPL but I am going for Newcastle’s new look midfield to inspire the home side to a narrow win.

EPL Bet Analysis: Sunday 13th August

Chelsea v Liverpool – Draw

Outside of the away games against Man City, Man Utd and Arsenal, this is probably going to be Liverpool’s toughest fixture of the season so Jurgen Klopp won’t be too happy to be going to Stamford Bridge on the opening day. Chelsea’s new look team will also be dreading taking on a new look Liverpool midfield which certainly looks more potent on paper, although how creative it is in a new look Liverpool team remains to be seen. I think both sides will really feel that not losing this opening fixture may be more important than actually winning it and as such, I can see a tight, scrappy and tactical game. Draws have been a feature between these two teams over the last few years and I think that trend will continue here.
