Premier League Accumulator – 9th & 10th April

Well, half way into my Champions League tips this week and both my games on Tuesday night came in, so hopefully I can land the games taking place tonight and land us another acca win to add to the one a couple of weeks back!

After that I have my Europa League tips on Thursday and then we will turn our attention to this set of games in the Premier League, with nine games taking place across Saturday and Sunday, plus one on Friday night between Newcastle United and Wolverhampton.

This weekend though has the potential to be a season-defining one for teams at both ends of the table, and it is the games on Sunday that will likely have the most dramatic impact.

That doesn’t mean Saturday’s action is any less enticing. We start with Everton, battling to avoid the drop, against Manchester United, a team battling for a top four finish.

We also see Arsenal and Spurs in action in the battle for the top four, while Chelsea are also in action away to Southampton.

However it is Sunday where the real action is with a massive game for Champions League chasing West Ham away to Brentford and then a relegation six-pointer between Norwich City and Burnley at Carrow Road a game both teams will feel is a likely must-win game.

Then it is on to the Etihad for a potential Premier League title decider as Manchester City host Liverpool as the top two, with just a point separating them, clash. And with just seven games of the season to go after this, a victory for either side here could be decisive in the title race.

So with all that in mind, here’s my tips for this week.

Bet Analysis: Saturday 9th April

Everton v Man Utd – Away Win

The first of the two Merseyside v Manchester games this weekend sees Everton in desperate need of points to avoid being dragged into the bottom three, taking on a Manchester United side that are in equal need of points to resurrect their hopes of a top four finish. Of the two teams, this is arguably a bigger game for Frank Lampard’s team as relegation for Everton would be a disaster for the team. United’s away form of late has not been great but I think in terms of quality, they still have the edge over Everton in a number of areas, notably in attack. These game have produced some classics over the years but I predict a nervy game here and for United’s prowess on the counter attack to be the key factor in the game that hands them the win.

Southampton v Chelsea – Away Win

After being humbled by Brentford last week at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea now travel to Southampton knowing that their title dreams are now over and Thomas Tuchel’s team now need to focus on securing a top four finish. Southampton’s recent form has not been great and the Saints have lost four of the last five games before last week’s draw at Leeds United. At home Southampton can be tricky to beat, but I feel Chelsea have so much quality that they should be very confident of getting the job done here.

Aston Villa v Tottenham – Away Win

I do like the look of what Steven Gerrard is building at Aston Villa, but I also think that after a slow start, Antonio Conte is now starting to get something from his Tottenham team and that for me makes them the favourites here. With Kane and Son in good form, and Spurs now starting to mature into a ‘Conte’ team, they should be confident of getting a result away to a Villa side that has now lost its last three games and who have struggled for consistency this season. Villa are a work in progress for Steven Gerrard and they are capable of beating anybody on the day, but I think Spurs take the win here.

Bet Analysis: Sunday 10th April

Man City v Liverpool – Draw

There’s no doubt in my mind that this is the biggest and most important Premier League game in many a year. With eight games left to go for both teams, and just one point separating them in the title race, a City win would expand that lead to four, which would look very difficult for Liverpool to overtake given their fixtures in the run in. However, a Liverpool win would put them two clear of City and give them a massive confidence boost ahead of the final seven games. In truth, there is so much at stake I think both managers will be more wary of losing this game, so as a result, I think a draw, as was the case at Anfield in September, will be the outcome here.
