Premier League Matchday 13 Acca Tip – 25th to 27th November

We were so close last week to landing another acca win this season. Only Wales let us down by drawing in Armenia instead of winning, so it was yet another close call.

However, the good news is that we now have no further international breaks right through until March and over the next month or so, we will be firmly focusing on the Premier League and the major European competitions.

In fact, it is a massively busy period for the Premier League with around 7 or 8 games to be played across December and through the festive period until the new year. With so many points up for grabs and some key games, it should be a great period of the season.

So we begin that period of the season right here with my selections for the Premier League games taking place this weekend.

The biggest game, in amongst several different options, is the Man City v Liverpool clash early on Saturday. I am not a fan of these early kick off games, especially after an international break and I think the way things are, this is a tricky game to predict.

So I have gone with four other games which I feel offer more likelihood of success, but that includes three huge games, as well as an intriguing one which I think stands a good chance of seeing an upset result.

Let’s take a closer look at them now.

EPL Bet Analysis: Saturday 25th November

Nottm Forest v Brighton – Home Win

A look at this fixture and you’d think Brighton would be the team to back. Indeed, that was my gut feeling here. However, this is a great example of a fixture where you check the data and come up with a very different conclusion. In their five away games this season, Brighton have picked up seven points, which puts them in the middle of the pack in the Premier League.  However, Nottingham Forest are one of five teams in the EPL that have not lost a home game this season, winning two and drawing three of their matches at the City Ground.  A draw then perhaps sounds like a better option here, especially with Brighton having drawn four of their last five. But historically, Forest have an excellent record against Brighton. Their last defeat against the Seagulls in the top division in England came back in 1980 and their last home defeat was in 1979. Last season Forest drew 0-0 at Brighton and won this game 3-1 and I think that does matter here and as such, I am going for a snatch-and-grab home win for Forest here.

Newcastle United v Chelsea – Home Win

Last season’s 1-1 draw between these two teams at Stamford Bridge in May was the first game which saw both teams score in the last eight contests between the two. Chelsea had the better of things up until last season where Newcastle were 1-0 winners at home, and then earned that point at Stamford Bridge. Four points separate the two teams in the league and in terms of having any realistic chance of closing down on the top four, this is a game that both teams will be aware they need to win. Chelsea’s much improved form of late has come on the back of two extraordinary games against Spurs and Man City, whereas Newcastle’s form stuttered with a loss at Bournemouth. Advantage Chelsea you may feel but I think Newcastle are a better team, more consistent and with home advantage, I think they will do just enough to clinch another narrow win and the three points here.

EPL Bet Analysis: Sunday 26th November

Tottenham v Aston Villa – Home Win

Two games ago, Spurs were unbeaten and top of the table. Now, they have lost their last two games in extraordinary fashion, have dropped to fourth and now face a fifth placed Aston Villa, a point behind them with a better goal difference and who have the best record over the last eight games of all Premier League teams. Ange Postecoglou needs a performance from his team here and in truth, I think he will get it. Certainly, the Australian has been a massive factor in Spurs good start and I think the international break will have helped his squad refocus their efforts. Villa are enjoying an incredibly good season under Unai Emery, showing their improvements from last season were no fluke, but their away record has seen them lose three of their six games, some of them heavily, and I think at home Spurs should claim the win.

Everton v Manchester United – Home Win

Having been deducted 10 points due to the Premier League’s investigation into one financial irregularity (Chelsea have several being investigated, Man City 115) there is a huge feeling of injustice growing at Everton. And I think that they will use it to galvanise themselves into a massive performance here. A game with Man Utd is always big anyway but that decision by the EPL will only serve to make things tougher for Everton who can expect a fervent crowd to be behind them here. United’s away form this season is ok, but I think this is a game where they are going to struggle due to the intensity of the atmosphere at Goodison Park. Hence I am backing Everton for a surprise win.
