Premier League Matchday 17 – 15th, 16th & 17th December

I know what you may be thinking. Have I mis-scheduled this to come out a day early by mistake. Well, no I haven’t because we have one of those Friday night games in the Premier League this week and I wanted to include that one in my accumulator.

The reason for that is simply value. There are a lot of games here where the odds on the most likely outcome, are very small, because it is a decent or bigger home team, taking on a smaller or struggling away team.

There’s only a couple of games where that isn’t the case, and one of those games was Friday night’s clash between Nottingham Forest and Tottenham at the City Ground.

So yes, I am a day earlier than usual, but I think it will be worth it. As I have put together a cracking bet here.

One game that isn’t included this week is the big one on Sunday between Liverpool and Manchester United as I didn’t feel the odds on the home team were worth going for here. Such is the form difference between the two, it is amazing for me to see a Man Utd team at a best price of 13/2 to win at Anfield.

Also the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle, Man City and Arsenal are all at home with winnable games and with the odds on them also being short, I felt that I had better options elsewhere.

So we may be seeing some less familiar names in this set of tips this week, but I hope it could still earn us that elusive win!

Before I start with the tips, just a quick reminder that as we head towards the festive season, I will still get the tips posted up for you across all games, but they may be written earlier than usual, so it is worth bearing this in mind when checking the data etc as it may have changed by the time the game takes place.

Anyway, here’s my tips for this weekend’s action in the EPL.

EPL Bet Analysis: Friday 15th December

Nottingham Forest v Tottenham Hotspurs – Away Win

Nottingham Forest ended a run of defeats with a creditable draw away at Wolves last time out. It seems to have given manager Steve Cooper a stay of execution for now, but he faces a tougher test this week against a Spurs team that finally ended their run of defeats last weekend with a thumping win over Newcastle. I have no doubt that this win will have given Spurs the boost of confidence they needed and with a winnable away game here, I expect Ange Postecoglou to impress on his team the need to pick up three points, especially with most of their rivals in the top half having winnable games this weekend too. This game was actually the first ever live game shown on British TV back in the early 1980s. Forest won that one 2-1, but I think it may be Spurs who come out on top here.

EPL Bet Analysis: Saturday 16th December

Burnley v Everton – Away Win

In form Everton, who have won their last three games, travel to Sean Dyche’s former club Burnley on Saturday evening in what promises to be an intriguing game. Everton’s form is such that without the 10 point deduction, they would be in the top half and well outside the drop zone. As it is, they have already moved out of the relegation zone and have now got a four point gap between themselves and Luton Town. Burnley are a point further back and know that a win here would be a huge boost, closing the gap on Everton and keeping the Toffees in that dog fight at the bottom. However, Everton are showing real form now and I think they have enough quality to earn the win here.

EPL Bet Analysis: Sunday 17th December

West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers – Draw

The Hammers have been up and down with their form all season but they reached a new low against Fulham last weekend when they were beaten 5-0 by their London rivals. David Moyes will want a response from that here against Wolves, but the Midlands side are not easily beat. Wolves have won two of their last five, drawing one more and they have beaten the likes of Manchester City this season. Just five points separate them in the table and I question whether the Hammers can score enough goals to land the win here, so i am going to back the draw.

Brentford v Aston Villa – Away Win

If Aston Villa’s away form had matched their home, then they’d be running away with the Premier League this season. The fact it hasn’t suggests that Unai Emery’s team have a bit of work to do on their travels. Brentford are a good test here although they have lost four of their last five games. Villa know that beating Man City and ARsenal is all well and good but they need to back it up with points on the road. I think they’ll get that here.
