Premier League Matchday 23 Tips – 11th 12th February

In a week filled with FA Cup Fourth Round replays and one Premier League game between Manchester United and Leeds United at Old Trafford, most EPL teams should have a bit of a chance to work towards their games this coming weekend.

With just one game moved to Monday night – the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton, that means that we have nine games to pick from this weekend, which includes the second game between Leeds and Man Utd in the space of five days, as well as a number of games that have produced plenty of goals in recent times between the two opponents.

Highlights include two London derby games as West Ham host Chelsea in the first game of the day and then at 3pm, Arsenal take on Brentford at the Emirates Stadium.

We also have a couple of real rivalry games too with Leeds v Man Utd on Sunday as well as Crystal Palace and Brighton taking on each other at Selhurst Park in what should be a cracker.

Games that have seen plenty of goals in recent times include Leicester v Tottenham, which has not seen a goalless draw between the pair since 1948, while there is a crucial relegation battle at St Mary’s as Southampton host Wolves in what is a massive six-pointer for both sides.

As usual, we have put together our selections for four games this weekend to put together into our acca bet.

Usually this includes matches from both Saturday and Sunday, but this week all four selections come from Saturday’s games. Check out the tips below!

Bet Analysis: Saturday 11th February

Arsenal v Brentford – Home Win

After last weekend’s surprising defeat away to Everton, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will be hoping to see a reaction from his team as they face a home game against Thomas Frank’s Brentford. The Bees have lost just one of their last five in all competitions and Arsenal have actually lost twice in that same period against Man City in the cup and last weekend at Everton. This isn’t going to be an easy game for Arsenal despite a 3-0 win against the Bees back in September. The teams have only met 16 times in history and though the records are tied with six wins each and 4 draws, the Gunners have won three of the last four most recent meetings in the Premier League and League Cup. As such, I think the home side should be good to pick up what could prove to be a vital three points in this one.

Crystal Palace v Brighton – Draw

One of the more unusual rivalries in the Premier League is renewed once again this weekend as Crystal Palace welcome Brighton to Selhurst Park. The home side have the edge in this fixture in recent times, losing none of the last six, winning two and drawing four. All of those four games that finished in draws have been by a 1-1 scoreline and as you can probably guess from my tip here – I think that is a solid option for Saturday’s game too. I can’t see Brighton losing this game and their form is such that they’d be favourites to win it, but Palace do have the edge over Brighton in recent games and with home advantage, I am backing Patrick Vieira’s team to pick up a point.

Leicester v Tottenham – Draw

This fixture has produced a barrowload of goals over the years and given the defensive issues both sides have had this season, combined with the attacking talent on display, it is a good bet that we may well see plenty of goals here again. Picking a winner is more difficult and indeed, had James Maddison not been back for Leicester City, then I would have probably gone with Spurs for the win, especially after that 1-0 win over Manchester City last weekend. But Maddison is key for the Foxes and his impact was huge in their 4-2 win at Aston Villa last week. I can’t see them following it up with a win here, but I do feel a 2-2 or even 3-3 draw is not out of the question.

Bournemouth v Newcastle United – Away Win

Newcastle were not too happy with their draw with West Ham last weekend as they spurned a great opportunity to close the gap more on Man City and Arsenal at the top of the table. However, they can get back to winning ways on the South Coast here against a Bournemouth side that have lost four of their last five games and who have been in freefall down the Premier League table in recent times. A lack of goals is costing Newcastle and they did miss the suspended Bruno Guimaraes in the West Ham game. However, I don’t see the Magpies having too much trouble picking up the three points here against a Bournemouth side out of form.
